I was think to use standard motor heng long,, but it's figuring the drive link that's the head spinner,, because of the space under the bonnet,, or hood to our American friends,,, I got lights fitted and work well, servo for steering gear is sort of there I figure Im going to have to fabricate linkage for it I'm using my M16,, as a guide,, but I definitely need some help on the main drive,,,

Good afternoon,
I have it from a reliable source that Chris\Ludwig is going to be coming out with linkage stuff that will work on these 1/18 halftracks. Both Jackalope and I are doing one as well.
regards,
Painless

I picked up one from by buddy MichaelC. He used VS 1/12th scale motors and installed a Clark board and let the front wheels "float" free. It works really well as the it drives like a tank and the front wheels just follow the direction turining. Gives great sound and it can then IR battle too. I am planning on mounting a Pak 40 with recoil and elevation and making it a little fighter! :-)

Its Vs 1/24 scale motors that you can get from them @ $20 USD shipping included. Here is a link the original thread where I got my idea from a fellow local tanker and he even use a servo as steering linkage:

ray, if that's the case you should just replace the drive sprockets with the Vs tank gearbox as it is basically a drop in after you take the body apart. Leave the front end as is since if you put in tank electronics it will drive the tracks to make turns so you don't need the front steering at all and can just leave it. I can try to find a video of the one I sold to dgsselkirk and you can see how it would run like that.

I like the idea of a German Half Track to complement my M16 but I would prefer a 1/16 model which would then be more suited to the "Elmod" board BUT I cannot find a 1/16 R/C or a Static German Half Track that could be converted except the Famo but that is for another day.
