Screwed! More bad news.

Post by jackalope »

Well after the crap with the puppy, and the dishwasher I thought it couldn't get any worse but damn was I wrong! This past Friday we had a heavy rain storm with lots of wind and we found out the roof that we had re-done back in 2009 leaking AGAIN! Called the insurance company but they said it can't be the same claim because it was so many years ago, so another $500 for the deductible and I'm past broke. May have to sell off some of my stuff to cover the normal bills along with this latest issue, really don't want to but not sure I'm going to have choice. Going to TRY like hell to be keep my stuff ( Tigers, King Tiger, 251, 88mm flak gun, 30 some German troops, motorcycle, 1/16 scale static Goliath :'( ) if I do have to sell anything I'll post it here first.

I pray it doesn't come to that but right now things look pretty bad, my daughters bedroom ceiling needs to be replaced its in danger of falling, 2 walls are ruined and there may be damage to the chimney not to mention the roof itself. The last contactor who has since gone out of business put a plastic drop cloth down in the attic the 4th time they were called out to fix the leaking roof, looks like they never did and this time there was enough rain that it spilled over the plastic and that's when we found it. We're so screwed right now its not even funny. :'(

Just needed to vent, can't take much more crap. I won't be able to go to Detroit for the meet on the 25th because the contractor will be here the 26th at 8am not to mention I have NO money for the gas out and back now.

So what does everyone think is a fair price for an almost finished H/L Tiger with a Hobby Boss upper deck and turret, metal Taigen lower and all metal running gear with 4.1 gearboxes, JP400 motors, an IBU2 with amp card, TARR mk I smoker, 4 Mato speakers? It's about 90% finished just needs weathering.

Also how about my King Tiger? Its a Taigen with metal lower, all metal running gear, JP400 motors, 4.1 gear boxes, IBU2 with amp card and remote mount setup, modified TARR mk II smoker, and runs like a dream!

My 251 I paid $75 for and it has metal tracks and would come with a Taigen 2.4 gig radio setup but it does need to be built as right now its still just a toy.

God I hope I can at least keep my KT its my first REAL build and took damn near a year to get to where it is now but IDK if I can. :'(
May just start robbing banks. :lolno: :'(

I hate life right now.

Terry,
I'm sorry to hear of this latest bad news. I'm almost certain that the last contractor, the one who went 'out of business' is doing work under a new moniker. They seem to flourish like that. It might be worth your while to do a search online and locate an attorney who does pro bono work for people who have been shafted by such. Until then, your Tiger 1 is easily worth 400 - 500.00 dollars with all of those add-ons. You know that it will require finding the right buyer tho' Good luck and better days, my friend.
with all regards,
Painless

Painless, no they actually did go out of business. It was Welsh remodeling and they were the oldest most well known remodeler in the state. About 5 years ago another guy bought they're license and 2 years after that liquidated the company, no one seems to know why but they're gone.

Ok so then I may be able to keep my KT. I'm going to keep my 251 cause its almost ready to be built.
My Tiger may have to go sadly though, I'm gonna try like hell to keep it.

Sorry to hear that. If I lived there I could help as I have both roofing and drywall experience. Just to old to do much roof climbing anymore.
The insurance company I would thing bears some major responsibility as they accepted the contractors work as satisfactory enough to pay out your claim to him who must have given at least a fifteen year or so warranty on the roofing materials.
Try to get some info from a lawyer who gives a free first consultation. Its amazing the things that might be in the laws that may allow you to go after the original firms owners, the insurers or the roofing product manufactures to get some satisfaction on a warrantied product job.
