I am going to be using a Tower Pro SG-5010 servo for my M1's barrel elevation. On the real tank, the main gun's elevation/depression range is +20 degrees to -10 degrees. I want my tank to have a similar gun barrel elevation range. How do I do this with the servo? Is there something in the servo that I have to modify? Does it depend on the linkage? How does one connect the servo to the main gun anyway? I will be retaining the airsoft mechanism.

Tough one ATC...depends on what's on your servo...you have arms or gears....if gears...it's going to be a tough go...as you will have to experiment and block out teeth....if you have arms...it's a little easier as you can use different length connecting rods

As long as the mantlet and the turret allows for the range, you can in theory adjust it via limits on your radio for that channel. Recently I did a servo elevation on my Panther F and dgsselkirk (I sold my F to him) didn't like the fact that servo elevation is alot faster than WWII tanks in general, I just slow down the servo on the radio.

its like Alpha said you can either play with the differant holes in your servo arm and the ratio to your gun / mechanism. (most servo's have an operating range of about 50' to 60' (+/- 25 - 30')', or if you have a turnigy radio you can program the operating angle of the servo using the menu controls of the transmitter. Either way its do-able you just need to experiment a little

To do it the way I have in my video you will need these and some kind of C Channel. You can either build your own or use the one that comes with some HL tanks.

Managing the servos travel and centre point is done on the controller using trim (some servos can be programmed as well). You'll just need to fit it then experiment with arms and such.
You can get new arms if needed. Servos tend to conform to both dimensions and spline types across brands. You just need to find out how many teeth your spline has and then being parts for it is easy enough as they tend to be standardised these days. So if its 25 tooth spline, hitec parts will fit. 24 teeth then futaba etc. That's assuming that servo conforms, is rebranded or a clone.
