I'm kinda new to the whole tank thing so I'm kinda stumped figured I'd ask you guys. I started to do the camo on my Tiger build and the Dunklegleb is fine, the Olive green is fine, but then I got to the Rottenbrown and to me and the wife it looks like an orangish light brown is this right? Its from MIG and is the late German paint set I got a while back but to me the brown is more orange then brown and when its on the Dunklegleb and contrasted with the Olive green it looks like straight up ORANGE. This can not be right, can it? I'm planning to re-paint the "brown" tomorrow with Tamiya Dark Brown which I KNOW is brown.
Unless you guys tell me this orange brown is correct that is. Thanks.

Hey Jack...just remember...just like when you painted cars in your youth...the base coat can affect the outcome of the color...especially when you are using an airbrush...as weak colors should be treated like you are shooting a candy 
...if your color pulls more towards orange....put a base of black first ...Orange is the weak link in that brown mix...

I got 2 coats of that "brown" on the tank and it looks more orange. So the jar went in the trash and I'm gonna just use the Tamiya brown. I get what you're saying Alpha but I'm not repainting the damn tank again! Just gonna do what I know works.

Two coats wouldn't have changed the outcome....the base of your tank was yellow right...so when you shot over that..the lighter pigments took over....the neutral being black in a brown mix...taking a side line...Moot point though as you trashed the color...yes go with what worksjackalope wrote:I got 2 coats of that "brown" on the tank and it looks more orange. PS. Don't worry about "do overs"....I have done my M1 over ten times already...It just depends on when the result makes you happy

Mig colours are deliberately lighter to account for the scale look. I assume you used Mig 0014 8012 Rotbraun? That's the colour I used on my KT. 
Once it's under a filter or two, some oils for weathering and a dust coat it takes on less of an orange tone. You can see where I've started to weather the turret it's darker in colour. Apparently that is the correct colour for Rotbraun. I mean how yellow really is Dunkelgelb? That could also be called light tan brown. Germans had some weird names for colours, though. One of their greys was actually brown for instance.

Paint can be a very funny thing, Jack, and we used to go through this all the time in scale aircraft. The first thing you have to remember is that paint changes. You can paint an aircraft and then park it on the field and if you go back a week later and repaint just part of a wing with the very same can of paint it will look slightly different.
The second thing to remember is that it's just a hobby so the most important thing is that it looks right to YOU. If you think it's too orange, change it.
Here's a couple of examples of what I've experimented with
The Tauchpanzer is still the base tan colored plastic, with Olivgrun and testors rust (much still to do on this one, as you can tell because it still has the four digit number) but the Jagdpanther is a different story. It started out pretty much the same way but then I went over the tan with Dunkelgelb and then I repainted the rust with testors dark earth and I think it looks pretty close to the way it's supposed to. Some might disagree, but like I said, it's just a hobby so if I'm satisfied that's close enough for me. If you look closely at the JP you can see a trace of the original rust around the edges of the dark earth.
Then in this photo
The kubel and the Tauchpanzer both use the same Olivgrun but it looks slightly different when painted over the tan plastic and the Dunkelgelb base coat. Also, the kubel uses Dunkelgelb but the Tiger in the background has spray can Afrika mustard on it.
So my advice is to try a few tests to see what you think is best. Maybe dark earth, or maybe testors panzer schokoladenbraun '43. You already threw out the offensive orange so you'll have to buy new paint anyway, so maybe try a couple different colors and brands to see how you like them, and I know I for one will be very interested in your results.
