I animated my Machine Gun!

Post by Muscleflex »

I wanted to do this soon after receiving my Tiger tank!
This is just a quick mod tho. It's not a proper build. I did this in about 15 minutes. I will redo it and will make it permanent at some point.
I'm going to change the servo as well to some quieter ones (the servo I'm using is like 20 years old from my MS Hornet V1 helicopter)
I want to animate my commander's hatch as well. I have a 3 way switch on my tx so I was thinking:
1: Hatch closed
2: Hatch Opens
3: Commander pops up
But this will be another time when I have more time..

ps - Just how the heck do I post youtube videos on here?

That is very, very cool. I'd really like to see a photo of the inside so I can flagrantly copy all your hard work! :haha:

Videos are a pain, but here's step by step how I do it -

I start with two windows open, one at the forum and one at youtube. I start my post, get to the place where I want the video and click to window 2 for youtube. I copy the web address of the video I want to post and come back to window one. Click on the post to get the cursor in place, click on the youtube button (you have to be in full editor). In my post I'll see appear. I put my cursor in between the two brackets in the middle and right click and hit paste. Now it looks like this

then I erase everything between the left side of the h in https and the capitol "N" just after the + sign. Now it looks like this in between the on each end Npm8XWjlImc

Then I go to preview to make sure I see the video in its window before I post. I hope that helps, and I think you should try it right here, just to be sure you got it. It's very different from what I'm used to, but once you do it a couple times it gets easy. And I always hit preview to make sure all is well before I hit submit. The one I just used to explain is this video

When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!

Haha thanks!
I actually have a video on my phone of the inside - let me upload that and will post on here. Nothing special tho. Like I've said, I had half an hour last night so decided to just quickly do this.

Very close to how I did mine as well, with my Tiger having a solid upper hull my servo is attached to the underside of the deck with 3M double sided tape.

You are very welcome, Muscleflex. Is there something else we can call you that doesn't take so long to type in (yes, I'm that lazy)? :)

I'm Gary, BTW. I think I've seen your screen name on RCU, are you a member there as well? How do you think the two forums compare? Do you have a preference? I think this forum runs much faster and smoother than RCU, and there's definitely a lot less advertising taking up space. I'm also finding that the guys here are very, very cool and I haven't seen any posts where guys were talking smack and acting stupid so I really like that part. :)

I guess I just can't say it enough, that I'm glad to be here and I really appreciate how cool guys have been. I still can't get over what a warm welcome I got here. At RCU I've seen guys jump all over a new man on his second or third post. How rude, eh? I just know I'm gonna have loads of fun here and I think I'll learn a ton of good stuff. :)

Yeah I use this screen name on everything:
RCGroups, RCUniverse, Helifreak, etc...
My real name is Patrick. (probably almost the same length as my screen name! Hah!)
Like Alpha, just type MF if you want to refer to me I guess.... or 'That Noob with the Tiger' (but then that takes longer to type!) ;)

I'm new to tanks so I don't know... I've not actually used RCU for years. I'm more active on RCG

My original plan was to use ball links and use guides to make the gun sweep better and more in a straight plane but I couldn't be bothered and I couldn't be bothered to look for balls and links in my box :P
