I'm enjoying my tank - but now what??
As some of you probably know already, my brother has given me his Tamiya Tiger I (Early Prod full options kit) to test. I really like the tank so he's given it to me. I bought a King Tiger off eBay that I'm sending to him so he can strip it and repaint and put some detailing on it...
So... I have the Tiger and once in a while.. I run it inside the house.. but is that all I can do with this thing? I don't want to take it outside yet as the tracks were painted as well and I don't want to ruin the paint.
Do you guys have assault course or something in your gardens for playing your tanks on?
Also - I've heard of battling - what is it and can anyone link me to some nice videos?

Hello Muscleflex. I have both Tamiya and Taigen tanks. I do run all of my tanks around the backyard. There are many things you could do with that Tiger. First, show us some photo's, we all like photo's. My Tamiya tanks are equipped with a TBU= Tamiya Battle Unit. The TBU is used for battling. When plugged into the tanks MFU the apple, as it's sometimes referred to, will flash when your tank has been HIT by another tank firing at you via an IR=Infra Red beam. After your tank takes a few hits 3-9 it will cease to function for a minute, then restart itself. I also am collecting related pieces so I can stage different scenes in the yard and then photo or video them. Speaking of video, youtube has plenty of 1/16 tank videos you can look at. Search Danville tank battles if you want to see some tank battles. Have fun and enjoy that Tiger.

You say you have painted your tracks and are quite rightly worried of wearing out the paint.
You have metal tracks?
In which case if you go to Tips and Tricks you will find various ways of permanently dying your tracks and while wear and tear will shine them over time so would the tracks on a full size Tank.
You have plastic tracks?
Then I am afraid you are stuck with the problem.

I think I am about to upset someone

Even if you are running plastic tracks outside the will wear down to the grey plastic in a way similar to the real thing so I wouldn't worry about it.

LOL....First off Muscles...this is part of the reason too much detailing can backfire on you....the tank ends up being a Shelf Queen...and rarely sees the light of day....You have to play with it...It's the reward at the end of the tunnelMuscleflex wrote:As some of you probably know already, my brother has given me his Tamiya Tiger I (Early Prod full options kit) to test. Sometimes you have to remember back to when you were a kid...and grasp the memories of Imaginary battles...It will come to you in time

I'd second TKcommander's comment - try and get along to either MAD, GLAD or BAD (Manchester, Grantham & Bristol respectively). The other thing to do is get something else to run/mess around with and learn to drive.

Thanks all. I saw that Manchester meet which is the closest to me but unfortunately it's the same weekend as my 8yr old son's gymnastics competition so I can't make it.
I'll google around and see if there are any more shows or clubs near me that I could check out.

They meet every month; there's a diary somewhere.
