Tamiya Tiger I Early Production Main Gun Q

Post by Muscleflex »

Hi all,
Here is a video of my tank's main gun - when it moves up, it spasm at the top end of it's elevation travel. As if it's clicking when it reaches max travel.
It doesn't do it on the bottom end.
Is it supposed to do it or is there something wrong with my set up?

Hi Muscle,
That's the safety cluch working. On the tamiya gun and turret gearboxes you have a slip cluch on the gear wheel to stop the gear from stripping if you go over the travel limit. What most of us do is remove the gear wheel and glue the cluch ring to the gear wheel. Hope this helps I do this to ALL of my tamiya tanks and never had any problems so far  . Brian...

I've heard of this mod. But I have no idea which to glue to which.
I'll get some clearer and close up photos tonight to show you.

Bottom Line....SERVO NEEDS TWEAKING :haha: ...while you wait Muscles...try switching the connecting rod.. from bottom to top....it the problem occurs on the down stroke...and not on the top...replicate the rod and install it on the top and bottom ;)
The situation is just like fixing an airplane elevator ;)

Yup noticed that...the usual is to stop pushing theTX lever right :haha: ...but on an airplane elevator...you can't see that fluctuation in the air...so it would probably cause the plane to crash...changing the servo would be the best option ...to me it's a minor issue for a tank lol...but tweaking will help get it perfect ;)
