What's the best Battery ?

Post by jeman »

Hi all......just a quick question. What is the best battery for a 1/16 Taigen Tiger Tank ? I'm looking at upgrading the standard yellow one that came with the Tank.
Cheers

Good morning,
I don't use Lipos but I fully agree with 5000mah. Heavy tanks need more juice.

Hi Everyone now is going over to lipos , you need a alarm if fitting to standard electrics. If you intend to upgrade the electrics as well to say IBU they are already set up to use Lipo batteries . If you want to stick to Nihm batterys go for quality over capacity get a well known brand . either way you go get a good smart charger(one that will do both Lipo and Nihm batteries.

If you go the Nimh route then you will only get what you pay for. Ebay is festooned with mis-labelled Nimh's that quote ridiculous mah's, some of which are impossible to achieve with this size of battery. I got stung, bought some cheap 5300 batteries that are no better than the 1700's that come with an HL tank. Lucky to get 5 minutes out of them?

By comparison, a quality 3700mah will last over an hour. I would only trust Vapextech and Turnigy, but there are others. Good batteries aren't cheap though, and there is no way around that.

Let say he wants to stick to NI-MH and needs a quality brand. Which brands are good? Which brands to avoid?

Anything LIPO that is EFRA/ROAR/BRCA approved for 1:10/1:8 racing use is probably OK to use.

I'm dubious about Turnigy quality, I have a few 3S batteries for my SCTE 2.0 and the Turnigy ones are pretty much inferior in every way. They are cheap though.

In respect to Nimh batteries, I have Orion and Venom ones. They seem to do the trick. I used to have the Ansmann ones but they seem to not make them any more.
