Hey I'm also from Peterborough! (altho I live in Detroit right now :( ) I think there's one or two other's from Cambs, and a couple of guys out Northampton way also.

The Tiger looks great - it has pretty much every little mod that I'm planing on including on my build.
If you haven't seen the threads, there's an excellent site here:
http://www.tiif.de/index.php?sid=0c1a6d ... 594e57f74f
some of its in German, but the Google toolbar browser plug-in will fix that ;D

If you are interested (which judging by the locations of the empty spaces in your zimmeritt on the front hull, you probably are... ) we're having a little group build this year for the 101st sSS PzAbt, hopping to get a few of them out to our meeting at Cobbaton this year as well - pick a number and enlist! ;D

A very good site deicated to the details of the 101st is here:

Hi Mart,
You have got it correct . I had it marked up before but like many people on here you keep hearing of new things that are incorect on HL Tiger Is , it was my first tank and to be honest I didnt like how it was before . I have had this tank a long time now it is the S & S metal gear version but running on the old RX13 bd . Im thinking of getting the newer RX18 and IR battle system fitted . I have done the following bits recently , waterproofed the tank , fitted the lifting hook between the storage bins , removed the incorect ariel tube and convoy light ( the other one I have altered so it works ) , added weld seams , I had to make a new periscope cover for the turret as that got knocked of by beleive it or not a piece of coving that fell down ! and lost , Ive made the late rear engine cover , altered the front light so it can be switched off , moved the turret back and centerlised the turret rotation ring so the turret spins in a circule . This was so I could fit the armoured turret protection ring . and the list could gon on for ever . Thanks for the links . Im spending time on this project as Im currently out of work . mounted all switches in reach of the opening front hatches . I have other projects to finnish which seem to mount up . Im thinking of getting another  HL Panther . I know there a bit naff . I altered the frontal armour on my one and added the dished wheels with the bolts  . I stuck them on as and bourght the centeral dishes , there still set up Tiger style but Ive given this to my son and hes happy . I will look at the links again thanks . As for Cobbaton I will have to check were it is . And as for you being in the States well Im jealous , Id love to emigrate .
All the best Andy

Hi Andy,
Cobbaton is all the way down in Devon, just east of Barnstable / south of Minehead - its about 5 hours drive, so I'll not blame you for not making the trek ;)
(For anybody who is going, I should warn you that after 5 hours in my Lupo, I will be reduced to a drooling Zombie! ;D ;D ;D )

Maybe we can organise something locally that week when I'm home - AndyD, Fynsdad, FireflyKeith - are you interested?

I'll be following your build for inspiration for my Tiger, the turret ring looks like it was a pain to cut out but I'll have a bash ;) Can you post the dimensions?
If you want to get involved with the club then I would recommend the DBC system rather than the HL. Check my post in the electronics section for your options, but the HL is not compatable out of the box. The DBC has other advantages in terms of the tanks handling qualities, and radio options. But its not as cheap as the HL set up, so if you only want to run around the backyard with your son, the HL is plenty good enough.

Hope this helps,
Mart

Hi Mart ,
Thanks for that yer a little to far for me . The other system may worth looking but im not very good on electronics and  moneys tight at the mo . So that stops me travling to far . The hole was cut out and moved back wards 10mm . I then removed the HL turret bottom piece ring , made my own one positioning the ring on the bottom of the turret in the centre one another thin piece of plastic . I had to reduce the thicknes of the cog and re monunt the turn motor . I just glued bolts to the underside of the body and bolted the motor system back on . The turret ring I just reaserched . I couldnt find many combat pictures but Tiger I number 111 knocked out in villers-bocage shows one if you look close enougth. It states in the Ospray book they were welded on so thats the way I did it but Ive seen late war static models with the rings showing bolt heads ? .I starts at one engine grill and it goes round to the other one . I just guesed and worked from the few wartime picts I could find as a guide . I did drill through the ring and tank body so I could put small pins in just to hold the ring in position whilst the glue set.

Hi Mart ,
I didnt explain I cut a square around the original hole in the top body part and moved it back or was that obvious . Im of to bed now as its 02:29 in the UK . But will keep in touch and post some more picts . The one thing Im not sure onis the besy way to do the numbers as its something Ive not realy looked at and Id like to get it better than my last atempt . Even thougth my King Tigers 222 .

See the other thread ;) I'd still love to have the numbers for the turret ring as a start point...?

I heard that 15mm was the magic number for the turret move :o (check Jake's post in the "things to fix" thread) but I must admit that thats a mod to far for me, I'm a lazy git on that score ;D
We can have a run out at Ferry Medows one evening if nothing else comes to pass - all in favour say 'aye'!
I plan to have my 101st sSS Pz Abt Tiger on hand and probably a St Pz Abt 217 Sturmpanzer IV as well.

Glad to have you aboard and I hope you can get involved with the club,
Mart

Hi Mart yer I heard that after I did it ! Im not moving it again . I have the scale plan book of late war German AFVs and it looks ok compared with that . I have correceted the rear end so it has the cross member now . As for the Turret ring it will only work if you centerlize the turret . Once I moved my turret , I placed it on the top body and just drew a line around it . If you would like some measurments Id only be to happy to give them. As fpr Ferry Meddows yer that sounds a good idea just Im a single parent and may have to bring my children ? My Tiger I wont be running but Im sure I could ring something . Do you think 112 would be ok for my Tiger I .
