Gearbox

Post by emmasdad »

Guys, wonder if anyone can help here...... which Henglong gearboxes will fit into a Torro T34 hull. Unfortunately the original rather flimsy gears have striped after one outing.....

Many thanks.
Take care...... Gary

Hi,
I do not have a T-34 but to try and help.
Gearboxes come in two kinds Long and Short output shaft which are German and allied respectively. The German gearboxes are then available in standard height or in the Low Level boxes which are fitted to the StuG.
I would say that you simply need an Allied gearbox...possibly upgraded to metal to avoid the stripping issue.

Sorry to wake this one up. I've found an inexpensive Torro T34 but wondering what gear options I have when the originals fail. The fittings don't look similar, so suspect it's only the (out of stock) WelshDragon gears if it goes wrong?

My Torro metal hull T-34/85 gear boxes differ from most in that the final drive gear is separate from the rest of the gear box. It has the high low configuration.

Thanks, could a HL style gearbox be made to fit? Other than the gearboxes how similar is the rest of the model? It's for a project so knowing I can swap in HL bits as spares could prove useful....

Good morning,
If this is the original Torro T34\85, there is a set of metal replacement gears out there for it. You have to take apart the gearbox to do the swap but it really adds life to the tank ( or so I hear ) I had one of these but never had a problem with the original gears before I sold it on to make space one day for the metal Taigen version.
regards and good hunting

Hi RobW, so I need to know if your tank and mine are the same. I have the metal Torro T-34/85 with the metal turret that has the 360 degree turret. Is yours the same or do you have the Heng Long T-34 that is also sold by Torro? After looking at your first post I went to the Taigen tank web site, watched a few of their video's on you tube, but could not find any information on the gear boxes other than they are the high low configuration and that the final drive gear is not part of the gear box as are others. I will be happy to call Erik at Taigen to see what information I can find for you if you desire. Let me know.

Thanks. No idea about the innards - it's on Amazon at a decent (current standards - £90) price but very little info other than it's 2.4 GHz. I'm assuming it's all plastic given the price, but could just be lucky.

That will certainly be the WSN T34/85, now sold under the Torro badge.
