How to make Small boltheads

Hi Guys Here is how to make them.
Get a .2mm allen key, cut the bend off to make the punch. Grind the end flat so its nice and sharp at the corners. Get two pieces of metal about 2 inches long, so that you can clamp one end and be able to open the other 1 mm .First drill a 2,3mm hole though both pieces of metal then split them and drill the top plate 2,5mm put them back together and line hole up clamp as before then slide in 1mm plastic strip about 10mm wide and use allen key as punch though the hole light tap with small hammer and out drops a little bolt head use a tray to catch them .I suppose you could make them other sizes but the 2mm looks just about right to me .

Try this one.
An old plastic modellers' trick is stretching sprue (thats the moulding rods/frames all the parts of an injection-moulded kit are attached to). Some if these kits are attached to sprues that are hexagonal in cross section. Heat a length of it over a candle and when it starts to 'sag', pull the ends apart. It stretches and gets thinner as you go. Stop when you reach the required diameter, wait a few seconds for it to cool and cut it into slices, Hey presto!
It works to make wires, aerials and cables too. a really long, thin piece wound round tightly round a bit of fuse wire then dipped in hot water to 'fix' the shape, makes a brilliant 'curly' radio cable for a scale radio headset or similiar.

Didn't realize how stupid I was until I tried to make a hex nut.I got to clamping one end??? and was totally lost. Guess I'll have to keep buying little brass ones on the net.

When you get a new shirt don't throw out the pins that hold the shirt to the cardboard backing, using a pair of snips or sidecutters take the heads off and you have genuine metal rivet heads.shaun
