This is not a tank build but an accessory build. A 1/16 figure by Tamiya
WWII Russian Field Commander 1/16 scale World Figure Series no. 14
that I picked up for a couple of bucks to accompany my HL T-34. I'm just working on this guy whilst HL is in drying phases or too dirty to paint (from outings).
The kit has one sprue and even some decals (which I prolly won't use) The guy looks like he's at the dentist and is begging for the drilling to stop. He has a magazine pouch, a map case, a Tokarev holster and the famous PPSh-41 machine gun.
The gun is pretty cool
He's well detailed and the single sprue has quite a few parts, which mate up well but there are some mold lines and big gaps that need filling. I used vallejo liquid putty.
First coat is vallejo primer white or light grey for the body and black for the boots. I dilute the paint about 50% with ethanol alcohol. Dries fast, makes the paint go further and makes cleaning the airbrush easier. I will paint all the body parts with water based acrylics and then the face and weathering with oils, varnish and acrylics. This is my first 1/16 figure and only the 2nd time I have used oils (curently the first time on my HL T-34 work in progress).
I'll update as I go along
