WWII Russian Field Commander
WWII Russian Field Commander
This is not a tank build but an accessory build. A 1/16 figure by Tamiya
WWII Russian Field Commander 1/16 scale World Figure Series no. 14
that I picked up for a couple of bucks to accompany my HL T-34. I'm just working on this guy whilst HL is in drying phases or too dirty to paint (from outings).
The kit has one sprue and even some decals (which I prolly won't use) The guy looks like he's at the dentist and is begging for the drilling to stop. He has a magazine pouch, a map case, a Tokarev holster and the famous PPSh-41 machine gun.
The gun is pretty cool
He's well detailed and the single sprue has quite a few parts, which mate up well but there are some mold lines and big gaps that need filling. I used vallejo liquid putty.
First coat is vallejo primer white or light grey for the body and black for the boots. I dilute the paint about 50% with ethanol alcohol. Dries fast, makes the paint go further and makes cleaning the airbrush easier. I will paint all the body parts with water based acrylics and then the face and weathering with oils, varnish and acrylics. This is my first 1/16 figure and only the 2nd time I have used oils (curently the first time on my HL T-34 work in progress).
I'll update as I go along

BC: I couldn't do that. Could you do that? Why can they do it? Who are those guys?
Re: WWII Russian Field Commander
Yes we desperately need some reasonably priced tank commanders and drivers with the cool sponge bob hats
will prolly be a while as I have to finish a project for my daughter ( a bit off subject... and I lucked out picking up Matchbox 1/76 Comet, from my absolute favourite series, thank goodness with many being re released by Revell, Germany wins again hahaha

Good morning,
This guy looks like he could put away some serious Vodka ( and has! ) Beautiful detailing and realism. Did you paint the medals or use some of the metal appliques that are popular now?
regards,
Painless

Nice job with the figure
, I built the same one a while back but needed him to be sitting on my kv1 so I did a little surgery to achieve this ,
Cheers, Lee.

Cheers, Lee.

Hey guys thanks for the thumbs up,
I didn't expect anyone to see this
painless, yes I painted all but used the waterslide decals for the medals, but I don't recommend them as you can see the edges so it's better to put some effort into painting them
wow MB4 that is a very nice KV and great commander, like how you made him fit on your vehicule - is that Tamiya or HL ?

Hi puramo
It is a metal edition torro ie metal chassis, gears, tracks and sprockets, it actually came with a decent paint job straight out of the box, I've just lightly weathered it and the rest of the weathering was supplied by good old nature while running it around
Cheers Lee
