WSN T34/85 electrics to HL

Post by ChrisW »

Hi guys,

I will be making a start on my WSN T34 electrics to HL soon and would like to know what are the best items to get (as in electrics).
I still want the gun flash and recoil but not the turret turn as I am doing a SU85 conversion.

Who are the best suppliers in the UK for the parts required?

Thanks

Chris

i think the complete set of electronics for a Stug III would be your best bet! :D try one of the suppliers on this forum, wgoa re also on ebay,
we have (that come to mind)

MilitaryMight

Forgebear

Blueslatesman

and there may be others but as i say they are the only ones that spring to mind,

cheers,

hi chris
The basic components you need are main board rx,13-14, or the new rx18, a receiver board, a smoke and sound radio, and a set of crystals, a recoil unit, a smoke block is optional, i have done this conversion to my daughters T34 some while ago and getting everything in is a bit of a headache, katie's T34 came with a small 9.6v battery pack and i kept that and am running the T34 with hl boards on 9.6v, i think if you look through this forum someone has posted wireing diagrams for this sort of conversion. and as matt said, for the parts try one of the vendors who are on this forum, or on ebay

Hi Chris,
I think you might be able to reuse the recoil and elevation mechanisms from the original T34 - I measured up my SU-85 and the gun house/superstructure/whatever-its-called is the same length as the T34's turret, so it *should* all fit :-\ Mounting it will be a bit of a challenge, but this is what the hobby is all about ;) ;D
Plenty of us here have done the electronics upgrade, just shout if you get stuck!

I updated this with the HL RX-14 board and I am using the DBCRC2 for the IR Battle system and the cannon sound along with using a new hobby radio!

Thanks Guys,

I will start to source the parts before removing anything so I will have it all there ready to go, I want to use an internal battery rather than the original drycells that fit into the bottom as I will no doubt get a longer running time.

Thanks again for the info

a good tip if your not using the battery box is to either get rid of it and install a seperate charge plug
or fit a batt in the box ;)
gettin rid of the box has pros and con ;)s

The plan is to completely strip out the inside, remove the battery box underneath, blank it off and use a tamiya style type battery which I can relocate to whatever poistion is possible also the thought had crossed my mind about making the engine deck removable so I will have easy access to remove the battery or to have access to the battery for recharging. I think it will no doubt be a case of when I have the parts and a empty hull to trial fit.
