Sherman converting to Firefly

Post by 971wright »

Hi Guys Yet another Sherman build this is my first Tamiya build ,its an older type of Sherman Got it off E-bay it came with T01 Dmd which Ive given it a run out and Im not impressed with it its a bit like the old Heng long boards fast and wheres it gone .So with funds being tight it will be full heng long boards and recoil unit also elevation and turret motors from Heng Long ,Have all ready rebuilt and modified gearboxes see this post http://www.rctankwarfare.com/Forums/ind ... 334.0.html.
The lower hull is now finished all the running gear is installed ,so today made a start on the upper hull cutting the hull to the right angle 33 degrees also had to remove the hatches .

Looking really good Pete. I didn't realise you had two Sherman hulls. Are you planning to make them interchangeable on the same chassis?

Cheers

Yeah, Septon's right Pete. It is looking really good. I was a bit worried at first. I didn't think you had angled the Drivers/radio operators hatch turrets down towards the front. But as per you always come through 100%.
Have you got the book "Walk Around M4 SHerman"? It's full of great detail pic's to help you through your project. You might be able to dowload it for free.
One of the guys on here mentioned Axle Modellbau as a place to get Sherman Sprue/spares. I had a look at the site and they've got all of them and not very expensive either. Well worth a look.
Are you posting more pic's tonight mate ?.

All the best.

Nick.
