Introducing myself

Post by Royal Gwent Dragoons »

Hi, May names Julian
I've created the user name of The Royal Gwent Dragoons, off course it's fictional, and it sounds more intresting than my name.

I am looking to hook up with other people who are interested in 1/16 or 1/24 Armour, I have both, the 1/24 are the VSpro tanks and are IR my 1/16th collection is mostly a mixture of Heng Long and Torro/Heng Long tanks, with a Hobby Engine M1A1 Abrams. at the moment I only have the one IR functioning tank a Tiger 1 that used to be a dreaded "Pantiger" that I have converted, the rest are BB shooting Tanks.
I do not have any Tamiya 1/16. although I have modelled 1/35 AFVs for years :)

I have about a dozen 1/16 tanks and 3 1/24.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and please feel free to get in touch.

Regards

Julian

Hi Again, thanks for the welcome messages,

The Pantiger conversion is a WIP The rebuilding is done, I'm in the middle of repainting it now. It wasn't that difficult, and there was a learning curve involved, if anyone wants to do the same let me know and I'll give you advice on what to watch out for etc.
I thought it might be a good idea to list my tanks. I am always willing to take advice on board about improving my modelling skills etc and I am happy to exchange ideas and give advice when someone asks.

Hi again, Ref: My pan-tiger conversion , it did have an older board in it, so I refurbished the electronics with an RX18 and bought new switches , leads etc, I bought a upper hull off ebay, then discovered that HL had in fact updated the hull , so I then had to find an older upper hull with the correct retaining screw configuration. I got this from a German supplier along with a new smoke genny, the turret is a Taigen IR with a recoil function in the barrel I got a rear hull assembly from E bay too. I then ended up getting parts to make a third tiger. It was a good exercise for me and I learned a lot as well as gaining confidence to take on further upgrades and refurbishments, not to mention building a full option metal tank. My M26 Pershing and M41 Walker/bulldog also have the older boards in them, but as they work fine, I will leave them as they are for now.
