ibu2 instalation cockup

Post by Tankalot »

Hi all
I'm stuck, I have just tried to install an ibu2 into my asiatam/tagine tiger 1 asiatam recoil, high intensity flash, which I sorted out as instructions. whats happening is the stick controls are left=forward right=back, and so on, how do I fix that,
my machine gun makes a sound but the led doesn't flash
and the smoker I thought was turned in to a proportional one, it did it on first attempt at starting it up, but now its stopped and is only working when I turn it on with up right left stick, and it runs constantly.

I've noticed on the board the little green light is constantly flashing, is that why its not quite working right??

I'm stuck!!

Thanks all :shifty:

Did you sync the sticks to the board? Power off... flip the dip switch 8 to on power up then wiggle the sticks all the way round power off ...flip the dipswitch 8 back to off ......then try starting it..... this gets the board to recognise the transmitter
I'm manning the gun's ! Who's driving ?

Your servo wires between ibu2 and receiver are crossed.

What radio you using?

Hi tankbear!
Thanks for getting back, I just order an ibu2 off of you :D
The radio Is a german one that it came with from rctank.de and the instructions are all in german DOH!!!
Mt-t4b monstetronic 4 channel radio, I've never set up a 4 channel system, and I've not got a clue even if the wires are connected up to the reciver pins the right way around.

Sorry for being a pain, and thanks for the help, when I get the new one from you, I'll stick that in my tiger, and pop the other one in my Panther.

Thanks for the help fellas

Hi all
Tank bear had been helping me, and if you need one of these boards, please get it from him, all this faffing about would have been avoided I I had of done, part from the fact he's a top bloke for helping me with this.
I've got it going in the right direction, but the smoker is still refusing to do its proportional thing, and my machine gun sounds but no flash.

I'll keep fiddling! Or any ideas??

Oh and to fix the direction I've had to put 1 in to 2 and 2 into 1 on the reciver and reverser the radio channel on the transmitter.

Thanks tank bear ;)

Right, I'm done fiddling for the night, if I keep on fiddling I'm going to go blind.
The smoker when I first got it all plugged in worked proportionally, now it's stopped, only goes when I turn it on, the hull machine gun has audio but no optics lighting in barrel.
The sd card did fall out when I was trying to get the tank running right, lost sound and only by accident I noticed the sd card had popped out, must have knocked it on hull edge.
Would that have changed the programming of the board, it's the only thing I can think it is :'(

No, the SD card contents cannot be changed that way, your data is all ok.

With any electrical pcb's it is always a good idea to mount them securely, using stand-offs and a sheet of styrene. This stops the fragile board from bouncing around in the tank, and reduces the risk of wires/metal coming into contact with each other.

If you have audio, but no led flash, then the board is detecting the stick position. If you have have gone through the tx setup process, then the next step is to check that the plugs, wiring etc are ok. If it works on an RX18 it should work ok on an IBU2.

Please note the ibu2 has default settings on its chip so the ibu2 can be used with no microsd card inserted but you have no sounds or user settings.

As your getting the machine gun sound the ibu2 will be outputting the flash signal no check your wiring. Look at the 8 pin wire plugging into the ibu2 as the pin in the plug might of been pushed out of place and not making contact.

I'll wire it back up to the 2.4ghz taigain unit and see if it works, maybe when I seperated the 3 pin plug next to the top hull connector by accident I might have put it on backwards and fried the whole 6 pin 3 pin conection I'll check when I get home, the only trouble with the metal turret is its a pig to work on, you can't balance it very well when your putting it all back together.
All of this because my little daughter rammed it into her wooden toy chest and smashed the 4/1 gearbox bearings, so replaced them with waltersons, while I was running them with just the chassis my flash connector fell in my 2.4ghz and arked the receiver
