The MG42 would be mounted on the commanders cupola IF it were a mid or late production Tiger, however yours is an early model and the cupola doesn't have the mounting points. Not sure how you'd add one but I'm sure one of our more knowledgeable members will let you know what you can do.

As to running it in the wet you need to be careful not to allow the electronics in the lower hull to get wet. Running through a shallow puddle won't hurt it anything so long as the water doesn't get above the split in the hull. Also don't let it sit in water for too long as water can seep in through where the drive sprockets pass through the hull. I'll run my Tiger's or King Tiger through small puddles, shallow streams and snow but I'm careful with them for the above mentioned reasons.

Also BEWARE of sand after you get the tank wet, wet sand is like cement to the tracks and gums them up causing thrown tracks or blown gearboxes. Its best to just stay away from sand altogether! Dirt is ok but again don't let the tracks get too filled with dirt cause it'll do the same thing as sand. Watch trying to do 360 spins in grass the tracks don't like that. I'm sure you'll figure it all out, this may seem like a lot of warnings but they're still a hell of a lot of fun!

Running them through the woods won't hurt anything nor will running them outside you just need to take care and remember it is a toy tank. ;)

I'm not aware of any Tiger using an MG42 on the cupola. The crew would simply use one of the armoured-barrel MG34s that they were carrying within the tank.

A good way of increasing reliability in the wet is to build an internal box out of plastic card for the electronics, battery and speaker to sit in, use something like threadlock round the screws on the inside of the tank to prevent leakage, place some bearings or bushings around where the axles exit the hull then put a small hole in the base of the hull for drainage. You will get water inside through the suspension mounts so that needs to drain out. Might as well chose where water comes in and out. I'd still never let the tank go in too much water, thick mud or fine gravel, your Tiger 1 with it's road wheel arrangement will suffer all the same problems as the real Tiger 1.

Sorry was going off what the OP had asked. Which machine gun would be mounted to the cupola on the later Tigers?

Hi IronCross, I also got my first Taigen Tiger 1 from Dave Forgebear.

I hope you enjoy every minute of it.

Although it seems finished, you'll soon get the bug to start adding and or modifying it to your own personal taste.

I'm not sure if yours is the same with the on/off switch under the drivers assistants hatch?
My first mod was to re-locate the volume & smoke on/off switch to under the drivers hatch, saves opening the tank each time then.

Enjoy it!

OK an MG34, but how would you mount it to the turrets roof like the op wants?

OP's Tiger is an "early", it has the drum cupola, and I have never seen an MG fitted to it. There was no official means for doing that.
