Tank turns itself off when I fire gun

Post by Tankalot »

Hi all
I think I've fried my 2.4ghz board by accident, when I fire the main gun the tank turns its self off, I've check my connections, and battery's fully charged.
I accidentally dropped a metal connector onto the circuit board when I was testing the motors after installing new gearboxes, and it was on at the time.
I put it back together, and it all works until I Fire the gun, after more fiddling it now doesn't do a thing, the fan is still going, and the red lights on, but no ones home.
Any ideas??
Thanks

I would take the MFU out of the tank and remove the top half. Give it a good shake, there may be something else in there causing a short.

Hi
I've given it a good look, and I couldnt see anything in there, I think the reciever chip has gone, I'm going to swop over my Panther board and see if it works, it's really strange!

I've had another thought but I'm sure you have already tried rebinding the transmitter and receiver?

Hi Joe
I've swopped the board over from my Panther, and it all works fine.
I think where my connector fell in, it shorted out the receiver.
So it was an excuse to get a Clark board and transmitter (just got to smuggle it past the wife!)

Glad to see you found the problem. So you bought a clark board, let me know how that swap goes, I've often thought about a swap myself.

Hi Joe
I cancelled that order, I really wanted complete plug and play, so I got an ibu2 board, it's more expensive, but it's supposed to work out the box, read the Clark needs fiddling with for taigen ir.
Also I got it from rctank.de, because I saw them on there a while back, I had no idea a guy on here does them, or I'd have got it there :'(
I'll let you know how it goes!
And thanks for the help

Just curious if your tank is IR or airsoft. I've heard that if IR Taigen, you will need one of his LED's for the barrel. I assume you ordered a TX and receiver also, what brand? Thanks

Hello Tankalot , just a thought - if the battery is weak it could 'brown out' under load - i.e. firing the gun / the recoil jerk draws a lot of current momentarily - this could be making your board reset to the 'stand by' status that you describe . So it might just be a battery glitch ?
to the bouncy room ! Yay !
