A Little Gift

Post by jtracks »

So my lovely wife walks in the door tonight and tells me to close my eyes, and then hands me this.

Yes, she is a keeper. Kona was great by the way. Plenty of whales, good food, and a well deserved rest for my wife.

That's the place, we arrived on the 12TH and left on the 22ND. We spent a couple of days in Hilo also, seems they are down on their rain fall too. We didn't see any rain for the two weeks we were in Hawaii.

Yeah the weather is a little strange now....it really should be rainy and cold..but it isn't...the Sun is different as well...much stronger..you can get burned quite fast...heck I get burned wearing a shirt :O ...and this past Summer was a scorcher...right now it's how it should be most of the year...winter a little colder
But you came at probably the best time...because everything is great now :D

Did you all take in the volcano eruption? or go up to the observatory on Mauna Kea? terrific views on the big island

We always go to Hawaii in January, best time in my opinion. Weather is good and not too many people. We did Mauna Kea two years ago along with the Manta Rays and a few other things. No lava, we were told they weren't allowing people close enough to see the flow. Helicopter trips only if you wanted to see it.

Sometimes yes sometimes no lol... I would say this has been the best January so far...I remember about five or six years ago when it rained for almost two weeks straight 8O ...The upside was Maunakea did get some good snowfall ...almost half way down the mountain  ...but access was by 4X4 only

Bummer on the Lava flow.... not too confident of those private Helicopters ;) ...I recall one going down a couple of years ago because of the smoke ...it was lucky the pilot could put it down on hardened ground ...as they almost went into a flow 8O

Isn't it too bad the Super Ferry didn't fly...just think ...you could drive onto it...and if it was in service ...could have visited Sassgrunt and I here on OAHU ...and dropped by Maui for a visit as well
