Won't shoot, help please.
I don't know what happened but my 2.4gig Taigen King Tiger won't shoot it doesn't even try. I push the left stick forward and nothing at all, the little red LED doesn't light up, the tank just sits there. It worked fine before I took it out in the snow and before you guys say it no it didn't get wet. I know this because the receiver does not sit on the floor of the tank but on a shelf I built for it so water would have to fill the tank to almost the inside top of the upper hull. Could it being out in the cold have done it? How can I check to see if it is the receiver or the transmitter? Does anyone know what pin to check for power that would make the gun fire?
I've had a REALLY bad day and I hope my tank isn't screwed up, please help.

Hey Jack... if it were a HL...the way to check the firing mech and find out if it's the RX or TX is to swap the wires with the elevation...if that motor turns and makes the gun go up and down...then both the RX and TX are good..and the problem is with the mech itself...then you move on to trouble shoot that by making a set of jumper wires to hook to the battery ..then check each contact point

It looks just like a H/L inside what wires do I swap? I found a new TX/RX 2.4 set up for like $80 but I'd like to get this one working.

on the board on the hull...the wire ...swap or reverse it therejackalope wrote:It looks just like a H/L inside what wires do I swap? I found a new TX/RX 2.4 set up for like $80 but I'd like to get this one working.

So there's nothing to just unplug and swap I need to cut and splice right? Its gonna wait till tomorrow I'm too mad to screw with it tonight.ALPHA wrote:on the board on the hull...the wire ...swap or reverse it therejackalope wrote:It looks just like a H/L inside what wires do I swap? Anyway... on to testing the individual components till you can figure that one out
make one of these
...and go direct current... by clipping one onto the pos and just touching the neg to see if things work
Thing is...if you don't sort out the upper hull circuit board...you may not be able to test the RX...to see if that circuit is working..I know Taigen's board has a few more plugs than the HL... you could try and disconnect the rotation connector and plug the firing mech into that socket

PS. I wouldn't cut and splice if I had options ...things can go bad really fast after that

Re: Won't shoot, help please.
LOL! No there is a little board on the upper I meant is there no plugs I could just swap to check? And I'm telling ya Alpha the wiring on this looks just like the wiring on my H/L Tiger, the RX box looks the same too just the plugs for the smoker and the speaker are in different locations then on the H/L box.
Could I just use a test light to see if the RX is putting out? I think I'm gonna use my Tiger to see what wire makes the gun shoot and then see if the King Tiger lights up my test light, if not I think a final test would be to swap the RX boxes and see if works then and if it does I know I need a new RX. I'll let you know tomorrow what I find out.

Never tried Jack....not sure there is enough voltage coming out to use one...now if you had an oscilloscope..it would be a different story...you could check all the functions of the board ...then again...an ampmeter might work

Re: Won't shoot, help please.
I guess I'm REALLY not explaining thing properly am I? Ok let me try again. From the RX box it goes to the 11 pin wire harness to a small board on the upper hull, there is then a 3 wire plug that runs to the gun, then off the gun is a 2 wire harness that goes back to the RX box to make the tank recoil when the gun fires. Also off of the gun are 2 wires that go to the small red LED to the right of the gun barrel on the mantel. Also off of the little board on the upper hull are the wires for the head light and the bow machine gun, both the headlight and the bow machine gun still work.
I have tried to spin the 3 wire plug 180 degrees and still nothing. The gun does not fire, the LED does not light up and the tank does not recoil. Its as if I'm not even pushing the left stick forward.

Re: Won't shoot, help please.
Ah...so you did flip the plug... did the elevation work in either direction...if it did your RX is probably ok... you should then just run a check on the firing mech sometimes wires work loose...leaving not enough of a connectionjackalope wrote:I guess I'm REALLY not explaining thing properly am I?
