So as some of you may remember, I purchased a Tiger1 tank from an E-bay retailer for my son for Christmas. Out of the box we had issues. The main board that runs everything went up in smoke. So I ordered an upgrade reciever, remote which was a 2.4Ghz. While waiting for this to arrive I started looking for a tank for myself. Asked you all about Metal or Plastic. So I ordered a plastic version with metal lower haul, metal turet, metal tracks, wheels, 2.4 Ghz. I asked about TankZone. But before I received any replies I was sucked into their pretty impressive web site and away I ordered. As soon as I finalized the purchase I came back to see what you all thought about them and about had a heart attack. Didn't hear good things at all. In fact one fella was still waiting to get a refund for I think 2 yrs? So I called up Paypall and tried to cancel the purchase. To late. To make matters worse Tankzone was closed down till the 5th. So I sat in frustration till Monday and sent an E-mail to request a cancellation on the order. No response. Sent another E-mail with no response. I'm getting pretty fired up at this point. Came home from work today to find the new receiver and remote for my sons Tiger1. Put it in and presto. Everything works like a charm. While we were playing around my wife comes home and says who ordered a package? Went out to see what it was and to my disbelief, it was MY Tiger1 from Tankzone. Almost afraid to open the box I ripped into it to find a remove filled with batteries, and a trully awesome looking tank. Wow was this thing heavy. Quite a bit more than my sons.
The new tank has a metal lower haul, turret, tracks, wheels, quick disconnect for the upper haul, all the switches are through the top and it even came with an external charging port. Only problem I have is the charger is 220v. I am one happy camper to say the least. So happy it all worked out. Now I need to find another charger to replace the one it came with.
It all worked out
Re: It all worked out
Hi Nathan,
Glad to hear all worked out for you and that you are happy with your new tank, get pictures up if you can.
With regards to a charger, look for a Turnigy Accucel 6. I bought this and it charges my 5300mah batteries in just under 20 mins. It wasn't that pricey either.

Yes I'm looking for a smart charger as we speak. Tower Hobbies has a bunch. Between the two tanks we have 4 batteries. I guess I'm not to concerned on a quick charger. I also read somewhere that charging a battery fast is not necessarily good for it. The best way is to trickle charge it.Merlin707 wrote:Hi Nathan,

Look for a charger that has multiple settings from trickle to quick charge. That way if you decide to run your tank you can give it a quick charge ( one of my chargers even has a choice of quick charge amps, either 3 or 5 ). Using the 3 amp quick charge I not noted any decrease in battery life except on some 20 yr old 2000ma nicads that were originally in a racecar.

Actually just ordered the Duratrax Onyx 240 dual charger. That way I can charge both mine and my sons battery at the same time. Plus a couple of 5000mah batteries. I'm pretty excited about this new hobby. My other two sons are extremely interested in out tanks. Looks like they'll be getting one of their own someday.

Hi Nathan,
I am glad that things worked out with Tankzone.
I am puzzled by your comment about the charger though...." the charger is 220v"....Is it a UK style 3 pin plug ??...If so then I think that it is fine to plug into the UK mains.
I heard that Europe used to be 220v and that the UK was 240v but that all changed around 2003 ? UK quietly dropped 10 volts and Europe gained 10 volts so we all run on 230V.
If its a 3 pin UK style plug it is bound to be a UK voltage and its from a UK based seller.....(China uses 220v but a different style of plug from the UK)

The charger is 110v. The 220 is just the model#. They specifically stated this and I checked to make sure. Thanks for your concern. Now looking for tanks for my other two boy's. But not going to buy till a birthday or something comes around.
