Palepainter's Tiger, RUINED!

Post by jackalope »

My "new" Tiger arrived today double boxed with foam packing and FRAGILE stickers all over it, THIS END UP stickers on every side, he boxed this thing up like he cared for it and what did UPS do? Smashed the bar on the top of the transmitter into it breaking the case, not sure if I can fix this but when I shake the transmitter I can hear the pieces in there rattling around so I'm gonna try to see if it comes apart so I can try to fix it.

Then the zim coating on the front has been chipped, the weld line on the front has the center missing, the left side exhaust is broken off and the left side drive sprocket moves because the gearbox moves because the lower hull looks like its been cracked. UPS MESSED this thing up just about as good as they could have! All the little zim crumbs are in the box so I KNOW this happened during shipping or the crumbs wouldn't be there.

I have to try to fix the weld line on the front end, the zim coating I'm going to have to try to duplicate on another lower hull due to the damage to this one! No point in trying to repair this hull as its in pretty bad shape, think I'm just gonna wait to get the metal lower hull to use it to repair the tank.

Still a good looking tank just a damn shame UPS not only dropped the ball but then kicked it down the street!

Can you not make an insurance claim on the shipping insurance?

Jack,
I am sorry to hear this. UPS has ruined more of my stuff than I care to remember. The last one stands out tho' because of the sheer brazen balls of it. Two years ago, Christmas. Home baked cookies from a couple of sisters in Germany. The box arrives two weeks late ( and only then because someone had taped the torn shipping label back together so that it could be read ) and somewhere during the shipment, someone had torn open the box, ate most of the cookies, crushed the rest and flung the bagged crumbs back into the box and sent it on while opened. It arrived taped up with scotch tape by someone else. I haven't used or recommended UPS ( OOPS ) since then because that was the last bitter straw. Any number of Videos online where their drivers have been caught tossing and booting packages during delivery can be found. I know that you'll get that Tiger back together and the effort will be worth it. Pale did a great job on it and it's worth saving.
regards,
Painless

Not sure if he insured it or not I'm waiting to hear back from him now to find out. Regardless what good would that do? This thing is a one of a kind that can not just be replaced! Not to mention they're gonna want proof they damaged it this I know from experence and how can that be proved? Nope I just took it up the pooper and there's nothing I can do about it except bitch about it here.

Painless, they ATE your cookies?!?!? Don't they realize people have been shot for a lot less then this? UN-BE-LIEVABLE!

Ok so update, I was able to glue the transmitter back together however I just wonder how strong it will be compared to if UPS hadn't broken it. DAMN UPS!

Just found that the right side track was also broken. Something must have hit the right side of the tank HARD to break the track and the hull.

I put it away for the night, too depressing to look at.

Hi I cant understand how a company like UPS is still in business , every time you here of someone who has received damaged stuff it nearly always is UPS . best to stop using them and maybe they will eventually go bust.
Sorry to hear they damaged you Tiger so badly hope you can get it repaired and UPS pay for the damage.

Well it was insured so I'll be talking to UPS tomorrow and seeing what I need to do to make a claim. I just hope they're not gonna say they want the tank before they'll pay me cause if so I'm just gonna be out cause they're NOT getting the Tiger. :lolno:

So sorry to hear about this, that's just disgusting.

They should not require the tank to make a claim, only photo evidence of how it arrived to you and if you can also how it was prior to delivery.
Also draft a strongly worded letter to there head office as well as the claim, when I did this I got an extra cheque from there ceo as he was disgusted too.

Hopefully this gets resolved quickly for you, it's just a shame that you now have to repair that one of a kind tank :(
Hope all goes well.

Sorry to hear about this. My wife is actually a UPS driver. And yes they are complete idiots. Not her of course ( as she stands over me reading while I type). I hear all kinds of stories.
It's like if they see a box with more caution tape it acts like a magnet to get dropped or kicked around. Best thing to do is refuse it if the packaging is damaged.

Disappointed to hear about this as much time as I spent packing it. They had to run over it with a truck to mess it up. Fortunately, insurance should take care of this. You will probably get the tank for free in the end. :)
