Hello from Florida

Post by DirtyHarry82 »

Good day all. Avid R/C modeler over 20yrs now. Always wanted a tank, was fortunate enough to receive a Heng Long Tiger 1 as a gift. It works exactly as most have described prior to my hands on. In other words, it doesn't work. :lolno: Lol. So I had spent some time as a guest of this site and now saw fit to join your forum. Excellent articles for the kits available and their conversions! >:< Looking forward to turning my "toy" into a more ideal hobby-grade "toy". Hopefully. Or it'll be a basis for a second build-up. :D Harry.

Welcome in mate, not sure why the strike out rate on H/L tanks is what it seems to be as I have had 100% success with mine.
5 out of 5 have done everthing as they should out of the box.

Greetings Dirty.... I'm with Herman...have never had problems with my HLs straight out of the box...most came after once I started modifying them :haha: ...with that said they are easy to fix if you have the mind for it... and accessing parts is no where near the hassle of other brands....I wish you luck...as your adventure has already begun

WELCOME AND ENJOY

Thanks guys. I'll make an appropriate placed question about my Tiger 1 in a few, keep this about me and such.. :) Previous R/C has been car/truck based with small ventures in boating, micro heli's and Control Line Airplanes (.049 stuff). I'm 32 and received my first homemade R/C truck in 1989 built from a Grasshoper and plate alum. chassis. ;) Love the smell of Nitro and the speed of Elec., mainly built, raced, maintained, hot-rodded and bashed 1/18, 1/10 and 1/8 scales. Occasional other smaller scales were fun toys and tinkers.. Still have quite a bit of them also Revo 3.3 (full tilt Basher), 2-Hyper 7's, Ultra LX1 Force .26, Slash 4x4 Brushless (Mmmmm..), TC3 F.T. (custom rally), NTC3 (.18 tire killer), 2-MLST2's (mini fun), Mini-T Pro (carpet queen), Micro-T Bl (tile slayer), TRX Blue Eagle (mint), 32" 1980's Dumas wood speedboat .46Nitro (old), MRP 42" Fountain Elec. boat, and a few more but blagh. Lol. You get the picture if you were into that aspect of the hobby.

It was 1/10th scale off roaders for me, a dabble in nitro circuit 1/10th for a while.
Team Associated RC10 2WD, Tamiya Hotshot 4WD heavily modified with PC board space chassis, 7 cells, reedy red dot motor, bearings, sealed & nitrogen filled tires(used a hyperdermic needle to inject the required pressure.) RC10 shocks all round on adjustable mounts, electronic speed controller, micro servos, Futaba steering wheel transmitter etc etc.
Then a gap into real off roaders, road racing motorcycles, dabble in jet boat sprinting(now THAT is a wild ride)and 4WD bush bashing.
Then................kids
End message :/

Yep. 1/10 2wd Stock till I bought the Hyper 7 and rebuilt O.S. .21 Vspec.. Nitro kinda took over after that Lol. Then Brushless became semi-affordable with the Castle stuff. Jumped back into 1/10 4wd for a bit with the boys. It's been fun watching the progression of the sport and hobby.

And yes Kids. They (3) slowed the hobby down for awhile but being a parent was even more fun. Now the oldest sees all my stuff tucked away in the garage and Bam. ;) Love my Family.
