New scratch build

Post by Nathan2253 »

So I got my son a Tiger1 for christmas. As some of you allready know we had some issues and we ordered some replacment parts. I'm hooked on having one of these little monsters. Actually thinking on doind a build from nothing. Haven't looked into it at all but seems like the way to go so in the end you have exactly what you want. Is this a smart way of doing it? Is it cost effective? Where the heck do I start. I'm thinking I want a 1/16 scale all metal. Haul, turret everything metal .

Nathan Hi, I think it is a great idea, If I may make a suggestion? Why don't you look at some of the full Tiger 1 builds on the build site here on the Forum, because were I to do it, I would take a working HENG LONG/TAIGEN/TORRO Tiger 1 and start down the road to making it better, and the time inexorably would come when what I was putting in was my build rather than an upgrade makers showroom, your going to need a programme and some decent workshop tools, and the one thing we never have enough of, TIME, some of our German members at regular intervals do builds in metal from the ground up and looking at their builds can be either inspiring or downright depressing depending on ones skill levels, go to it and rest assured any help we can give we will.   shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Thanks Shaun. Was thinking on that route also. As far as shop tools. I think I'm covered. My occupation is a residential contractor. We do allot of custom trim, built-ins, cabinets. So I have a full wood shop to do what ever I need done. I also do metal fabrication. With a shop full of the machines to come up with almost anything this will be fun to do. I think allot of doing a tank has to do with attention to detail. Being in the trade to deliver precise results, I feel I have an eye for doing such a project. While having a few employees and seeing others work. Believe me, I know the type that deserves to be in a shop and the type that needs to stand clear.
