Will there ever be a Heng long JS-2? or anything close? just anything cheaper than the insane price of the Tamiya kit would be great. Anyone have any ideas??

Hey Jn... hoping Heng Long will come out with one...Have a hunch their production pallet is full at the moment...but there are hints...as if you ever take a look at the sprue included with the T34...there is a bunch of extra parts included...which Heng long is not known to do ;) ...perhaps after the release of the Challie :D

I'd be slightly cautious when ordering from banzia hobbies, I'd tried to order a couple last week, when it came to ordering them, they were out of stock even though they were not listed out of stock on the 1/16 page, also for the two, the shipping added up to near £150...plus you going to pay import, the last thing I ordered from Japan was an airbrush and I got stung for £20 just for a little airbrush, so who knows how much two tanks will be.......probably end up being no cheaper than buying from axels...still though axel's are very well priced compared to anywhere else I've seen....

Try Hobby link Japan for importing cheaper tamiya kits. The Japanese versions also come with a TX and RX usually.

It's worth noting that Tamiya don't always cost more if you shop around and upgrades aren't needed apart from a few exceptions (the only change on my leo 2A6 was the idler arms and wheel arms). My Tamiya Tiger has no upgrades other than some PE parts and new tracks - it doesn't need them. My Taigan Tiger, to bring it up to Tamiya spec cost me more than my Tamiya Tiger and you still have to contend with the fact the overall design and quality of parts is not as good.

I had a look and if you did get stung for vat the banzai js-2 works out about £650. Way way cheaper than axles.

.billpe I've looked at hobbykink before there always out of stock, just had a look not one in stock, shame their Kv2 is a good price...Tom I'll be ordering from banzai when they open again, I'll see what they charge when they get here...the js-2 isn't way, way cheaper by about £50-£60, and the rest of the tanks Banzai sell would work out around the same as axels...

If you have never tried any Tamiya kit, but especially a 1:16 RC Tank Kit, you should do it once in you life.
And yes these are Kits, you put it together, you are then a Modeller, and not just a driver.

This is Not "Instant Gratification ", but real pride comes from the effort you put into building it.
And If you put it together, 'You' will be able to pull it apart and Fix any Problems yourself.
And you will acquire great satisfaction after having built it yourself, and also fixing any problems yourself.
And it annoys me when I hear RTR manufacturers Say, "You don't HAVE to do anything".
Well I personally get as mush satisfaction out of assembling, painting and weathering my tanks as I do driving them.

And yes Tamiya are good, but I must agree, I do think they are a bit overpriced. ...
And they are Not "Fully Optioned" as the box says, they should at least have a Full Ball Bearing kit.
For the gearboxes and road wheels etc.
And Metal Tracks should be in a Fully Optioned kit .............
And I have A Tamiya Leopard2 A6, but with another $300 more upgrades, check out what the price of a Tamiya Leopard2 A6 is.

Wayne
Well Wayne I cant say that Im a "Instant Gratification" kinda guy, in fact Ive never found a factory issued tank that has my stamp of approval, they all have issues that can and should be improved. I am very different than most of the members on this board as I dont value the actual RC component all that much. I am a modeler and enjoy modeling AFV's in the large 1/16 scale. Sure it is fun to see your creation come to life after a long project but I am not the type to "play" with my tanks. I may run it for an hour in its entire life so the internal parts and metal gear boxes and everything else that is so highly prized by others is not even a consideration for me. Sorry I know this is blasphemy for many of you to hear! :haha: I currently have over 40 1/16 tank projects waiting to be built but once they are done they will simply go into a display case. Outward appearance is everything to me and so Henglong is usually the best place to jump off from and start work. Yes they have more cosmetic issues but you can get Tamiya parts to fix most of those mistakes for a fraction of what the Tamiya kit costs and scratch build the rest. Paying $650 or more for a Tamiya kit because the guts are better quality for me is insane.

For me the difference between £650 and £750 is pretty significant. If your in the USA I believe you don't get charged the vat we would.
