TAMIYA TIGERS
According to another forum (RCU) Tamiya are cancelling further production of the TIGER 1 including spare parts, in the short term it will push the price up even higher but I doubt that it will have much effect on the overall market simply because should you want too, a TAMIYA clone could be built by any competent member of this Forum using a TORRO/TAIGEN TIGER 1 as a base, TAMIYAs electrics once market leader are nowhere near as versatile as the competition and the use of metal in the construction of the hulls of TAMIYAs competitors puts them on the same level, with the added advantage of being RTR out of the box and usually a fair bit cheaper, indeed the only advantage TAMIYA has over the opposition is the quality of their materials, plastic, electrics, etc . shaun

Re: TAMIYA TIGERS
They're probably just ending that version and will release a new one. They do this occasionally. And owning both the Taigan and the Tamiya Tiger, the Tamiya is most definitely the better of the two for more than just the quality of materials.
What makes Tamiyas hull better isn't the metal in it, it's how the metal is used in it and the overall design. It's distinctly different from the other offerings. Metal doesn't = better either. You can't just make a Tamiya clone anyway, you'd need to cut the sides of a Taigan, make some braces and glue them to the hull and that wouldn't be very stable.

I have a feeling someone didn't real the supply page very well. Only 84273 is discontinued. There is no indication that 50016 is being pulled. Just says out of stock in the US. On the Tamiya Japan page for 50016 there is no mention of being discontinued.

Re: TAMIYA TIGERS
Good Afternoon,
I received this email from AAF ( Tank Museum ) this morning:
We wanted to send out an email to all our customers letting them know that Tamiya has discontinued both the 56010 and 84273 Tiger I kits. We are looking to buy a few of the 56010 but we can not get our hands on any of the 84273 kits. We are wondering if there is any interest in the kits or parts? We want to make sure that our customers can get the tank that they want and if we need to purchase more than our initial order we would like to know now before they are gone.
We are sorry for any problems this might cause but wanted you all to have a heads up.
Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this kit or parts.

Thank you
Natasha & Karen
regards,
Painless

I'll go with what Tamiya Japan says until they say otherwise.

Billpe,
Very good! As long as anyone looking at this sees that there are none available in the US for the 84273 per the Museum site and Tamiya.USA but that a 56010 might be available from Japan via special order, I think that all the bases are covered.

Re: TAMIYA TIGERS
Hi I Have 4 Tigers so I am not that bothered , bet they will be back they make a load of money on these tanks . They is also a shortage of Tamiya battle units . Would be better if Tamiya introduced some British armour .

It appears that TAMIYA have backtracked on the cancellation of 56010, I wonder how many E-MAILS protesting for them not to cancel they got? shaun
