Current Serving or ex members of forces

Post by Merlin707 »

I was just wondering how many current or ex serving members of the armed forces we have on here.

What made you want to serve and what is your current or previous specialty.

Ill start,

Serving in the Royal Air Force.
Current role - Air Warfare Centre, air cargo deployment advisor.
Previous roles - C130J Hercules load master, Search & rescue winch man.

Was always interested in flight and military after father and grandfather served.

U.S. ARMY, 63 sierra heavy wheeled vehicle mechanic. Worked on all wheeled 5 tons and over. I had wanted helicopter mechanic but when I went in it wasn't available, didn't want to be just a regular mechanic as thats what I had done in civilian life and didn't want to be a cook or bullet catcher so heavy wheeled vehicle mechanic it was. Mostly worked on 5 tons and Hemtts and M-1070's.

These beasts can do almost 80mph flat out with the top speed limiter removed and the fuel pump turned up! Something we did to every truck when we got it in, we wanted our guys to be able to get out of trouble faster then they got into it.

Hemtts....

Thanks for all the replies so far guys, glad to see I'm not the only military guy on here and good to see the varied roles we have all taken.
Interesting reading what everyone did.
