My another Frankenstein - T26E4

Post by EddyK »

Greatings, comrade tankers!
Today I'd like to announce You my new victim...
It starts in the previous autumn, when I bought not expensive Tamiya Pershing shell without any electronics, excepting motors and gearboxes.
But then in the June I found on the ebay Heng Long Pershing, that was moded in to the T26E4.

When it arrives, I opened it and found there RX13 electronics and plastic gears:

And, of course, I decided to change it to the Taygen 2,4 GHz system and black steel gearboxes, that I found in my storage.

I took out BB shooting mechanism and installed Heng Long recoil and IR system:

But then I decided to use Tamiya hulls and Heng Long turret...
And there comes my another Frankenstein!

Of course, it needs repainting, that will be done soon. And for sure I'll try to leave untouched the art on the front armor.

Eddyk,
Wrong post or not, that's a great looking Super Pershing! ;o) The use of Tamiya detail parts defines and bring realism to the tank.

Painless

I remember this tank... fynsdad posted a picture of it when he built a replacement for it ...so you're the lucky guy who got it :D ...Have to admit.. when I read the intro and saw the pictures ...thought you were going to chop it up :O ...glad to see later it was an internal improvement job :D

Eddy,
Excellent mod with the beaten out copper racks! If I ever do a Super Pershing, I will have to remember that. ;o)

Isn't it amazing what you can do with a little force Eddy? :haha: ...I have to admit...I like that part of fabricating...getting out a good hammer and smashing metal flat :D
It's medicinal :haha: :haha:

Today I took a little bit closer look at different T26E4 pictures and decided to remake yesterdays work:

And I made copper light guards instead of plastic ones:

Now I am in doubt - to place this construction on front armour or leave the art untouched:

Thanks to the Dave "Forgebear" for the metal hatches:

:haha: :haha: Now I know who's been snapping up all those Sherman commanders hatches :haha: :haha: ...had one on my watch list for the longest time...waiting for Dave to restock on some other stuff..those things keep flying off his shelves :D

Nice job on the smithing by the way :D ....those light guards aren't easy to shape once the metal is flattened ;)
