812 tiki almost done

Post by mdkboggle »

Hi all
Just to show this HL Tiger i picked up about a week ago cheap.
Painted it as 812 tiki and it is almost done now apart from hand painting the numbers and tiki logo.
This is the HL SQS version and i got it on the spur of the moment.
I did not mod anything apart from the headlights and even then all i did was to push the bulbs back and build covers from filler, and while wet i cut a slot in them.
There was another reason i did not detail this model and that was because i can't say i like it, it runs like a pig and i had to strip it down, adjust the gearboxes and the tracks and un stick half the wheels that would not turn at all.And as for the rx18 sound,,well,,
Anyway here it is and the only thing i can say may be worth note is that i did try to get the camo close to the real thing,Try being the word :)

The white tiger in the last pic is one of the first HL tigers they made,it was later in life given a rx13 board and still to this day runs sweet on all standard running gear.
I will post more pics of Tiki 812 when finally done.
Back soon and good luck all.

Tim, I always smile at the amount of bad mouthing members of the Forum load upon themselves when showing their Tanks, BRILLIANT CAMO on a pair of very tidy Tiger 1s, My experience of life has taught me to not put your self down, as there seems to be plenty of others who are happy to do it for you. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Good evening,
Jarndice is completely correct on all counts. Your Tiger may have given you trouble functionally but you have taken it to another level with your paint work. I've got a couple of those older RX-13 board Tigers and yes, they do run amazingly well. ;o) Looking forward to more of your work.
regards,
Painless

That's odd the wheels stick-had this problem with my KO but the tiger, all spin smooth. You probably already know where the issue is-too tight axle, glue or paint on same, maybe a cracked wheel? I use model car silicone shock oil on the wheels, I even have silicone grease, for my airguns so I know it is 100% silicone no petroleum at all. I put that on the turret contact (I admit that's probably over-kill)

Hello there, nice pair of tigers with great paint jobs. could we have some pics of your winter cammo tiger too ?. I must confess to having a tiger habit having 4, a pantiger, a king tiger and 2 jagdpanthers too. i have had the plastic wheels being tight on the the axles, i removed them ran a drill through them and greased them, problem solved.
