Hello from Spring, Texas

Post by Augustus1967 »

Greetings and Salutations!

I'm Gus,

My Tale is a fairly common one...
Started building Scale Military Models in the mid "70's".
Mostly Armored Fighting Vehicles, with a few War Birds, Jet Fighters, Ships, Pt Boats and Subs...
And the occasional SciFi Starship or Fighter...
For AFV's I stuck mostly to 1/48, 1/35 and 1/25th.

In 1979 The Tamiya 1/25 Teger 1 Kit is the One that Really Hooked me Deep...
I built pretty heavily until 1987 then got out for other Pursuits.
Fast forward Twenty Eight Years and I started picking up kits again.
I have two young Sons that want Daddy to build them All Kinds of Models... :D

Getting back into Modeling I remembered that Big Tamiya Tiger...
When I went looking for the 1/25 scale Static kit I found All The 1/16 scale RC Tanks...
And it's been Down Hill since.

At the moment we have:

A Mato/Taigen Tiger 1, in Mid Build, Many Parts and Upgrades... May wind up with Three Tigers.
A Taigen KV1, Metal IR model, Stock at the moment.
A Taigen Jagpanther, Metal Upgrade IR, Also Stock for now.
A HL Leopard 2A6, Amazon Junker, BB, it was DOA, have it torn down, Many Upgrades for this one too.
And a Taigen Stug III, Metal IR, Second Hand, still running it the way it came, Stock(?)...

Plan to pick up a New HL Challenger and Abrams when they are available.
Also hope to build a Hetzer down the road.
Maybe an M60 A3 some day...

In any event, I have A Lot to Learn, and I'm Looking Forward to It.
Just picked up my first Airbrush...

:)

Best Regards,

-gus

Good Evening,
Welcome to the Forum, Gus. It certainly sounds like you are getting into tanking full bore. Pictures of your work when you get the chance please. We like to chat and kick the virtual road wheels around here.
regards,
Painless

Gidday Mate, welcome in.
Being as we are pretty average writers and even worse spellers, we like pictures..............as many as you can be bothered to take
Plenty of folks in here that are indeed artisans of the hobby world, and there is so much learning available for those that want to, or great guidance for your own ideas, all solutions, all advice...................cheers from Australia

Ive been to Texas many times, mainly Houston, Odessa, and a bit of time in Sugarland(yes folks its actually a place)transiting through Dallas where I did the Kennedy memorial , and in Houston , went to the NASA space centre . Drove a Mustang from Enid Oklahoma to Dallas once - sick of airport security !, stopped into the Texas Motor Speedway for a look, after BBQ lunch in a small town on the way....................hell of a feed that was.

Love the Lone Star State, I could assimilate into that society real quick !!

Early Testing of my Leopard 2A6...

Replaced the Dead Radio gear with a 27 MHz set.
Added Mato Metal Tracks, Sprockets and Idlers.
And Roadwheels with Swing Arms (Bearings)...

Still need to install Steel Gearboxes and 480 motors.
She's running now, but Slowly...
