New from Essex.

Post by Kyle_T »

Hello to one and all,

Just dropped by to introduce myself a little bit, I am a 24 year old support worker living in the sunny town of Chelmsford, Essex. My main hobby is home brewing and reading history of most descriptions. I recently attended the Bovington Tankfest and caught a glimpse of a familiar sight, the Heng Long Tiger 1. It suddenly dawned on me I still had an interest in it as I used to own the old one (house mate trashed it).

So, after a word with SWMBO she has allowed me to buy a new one. But, I just cannot decide which, everything seems to be completely different with them and there are quite a few different suppliers to choose from.

I'm sure I will think of many questions to start asking but I shall do some forum searching first, although one thing I will ask from the off, Have they found or made a recoiling airsoft unit for the tanks yet? I've search the web to no avail so far. Don't like the track recoil method, Looks like the tank hiccups all over the place.

Cheers for reading.

Kyle.

KYLE, Hallo, and a very warm welcome to the Forum, The very first thing I would urge you to do is PLEESE scroll down to the dealers BLACKLIST and give it a good read, you will see names there that you will recognise, they are on the list because too many of us (including yours truly)have been ripped off by them, recently a number of new members have bought first then come here to tell us what awful fellows these people are, you will see adjacent to the BLACKLIST the recommended dealers list, now these are people you can trust, we buy from them and most of them will freely give you advise when asked. If you have any questions we welcome them it allows us to show how collectively clever we are, there is a world wide membership which means lots of people with lots of levels of experience in different fields, and if you know stuff TELL US, we try to have a friendly and helpful site but it takes work from everyone to achieve it, I am sure you won't disappoint us. enjoy the hobby and remember we do this for FUN!!!!!!!!!! shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Greetings Kyle... welcome to the board.. :D

I'm not sure if the 2.4 gig models are available in the UK...but if they are that's the one to get...the new electronics give it fantastic range...it is also the model which has gone through several other revisions ....If not available .... ask the seller if the tools are molded to the deck (in front of the turret)...if they are unless it's a good deal....look for the one without the tools... it will be the latest edition ...just below the 2.4 :D

Good luck ...Enjoy the Adventure

We do indeed have the 2.4ghz models over here but the range seems to vary from shop to shop as does the cost. The only one I ever bought was for £40 at a radio fair. The best prices I've seen online the shop doesn't have the whole range and some others have the rest of the range but are more expensive for the same thing. Not to mention I can't decide on what nation to pick to begin with or wether I want to mod it or just battle it to deal lol.

Oh the choices.

I will be sure to post a few mate, just as soon as I can find what I'm looking for. I'm quite taken with the Panzer III and Stug III but can only find the IR version of the Stug, does anywhere sell the airsoft version?

Thanks mate, there is a fair bit of choice, any particular vendor you would choose to purchase a first tank from? Want to make sure I get the right one. The Panzer III metal tracks seem few and far between and the pro version even fewer.
