Depends, does what ever you want to run require 9.6v? 1700mah is a larger capacity than 700mah so will last longer. There's no reason to use Nicds now nimh batteries are so cheap. In a tank I don't like to run under 300mah nimh packs.

Hello Apple... I would say the 7.4... but I would go for a higher mah rate...maybe up to 5000 ;) ...oh... and like Tom says...forget the Cadniums ...go for Nickle Hydrides

I see that neither of you possessors of all knowledge told APPLELOVER why the NI-MH is better than the NI-CD, it is because the NI-CD will not return a full charge if you put it on charge with power still in it (it must be totally discharged first) and it will get progressively worse with each charge put in it so that the actual life of a NI-CD is much shorter than the makers tell you. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, did you see what I did there? B| shaun

I thought that both nimh and nicds suffer from this "memory" effect. You can fix it by cycling the packs if you've got a posh charger. I digress, you can't really get hold of higher capacity Nicd packs and nimh and the new standard really.

No sure why sarcasm was warranted, just trying to help a fellow member.

Not sarcasm Tom, just a play on words, the well known saying and the other use of the word "power" brought together. I meant no offence. shaun
