British Sherman IB - Italy 1944

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

British Sherman IB - Italy 1944

Post by Swamprat33 »

Hi all, Hot on the heels of my Sherman IIA completion, I have made some solid progress on my 2nd Sherman over the long weekend.
This is a TamMato hybrid but will be a British IB Sherman with the 105mm.

The tank I am doing is another Late 1944 Italian Campaign Sherman but this time from the HQ Squadron of the 9th Queens Royal Lancers.

This is a pretty straight forward conversion which is now very nearly complete.

Tasks completed:
Replaced Tamiya plastic gun Barrel.
Removed the track guards and added a mounting strip to each side.
Built British style boxes for the rear hull and turret.
Built another box that was welded to the top of the tranny housingon the right side (from the front).
Magnetised the top to lower hull.
Base coat of British Olive Drab (scc15). This is roughly a 50/50 mix of Vallejo VJ 70924 Russian Uniform and VJ 70888 Olive Grey.

This wont be a battler so no need to add the IR system. Could not figure where to put the emitter in the 105 mantlet so copped out.
I am expecting to get the green base coat on her tomorrow.

Pix to follow (once ive taken some).

Cheers

Tim
