Updates to my Early Tiger I

Post by scalawag »

Hi All,

You have seen this one before, but I have been playing with PE and other detail bits again, so here are a few pics of the recent work on my Early Tiger I.

Turret stowage bin and track toolbox clasps

and some shots of the whole tank

I think these little details add to the overall look of the tank.

Comments as always welcome.

Good job on the PE parts, far to fiddly for me

It is a bit fiddly at times (each of those turret bin clasps is made up of 6 separate pieces) and I do end up swearing a lot, but I am a bit of a detail junky

I have just ordered some working rear convoy lights for this and my other Tiger, and also my Pzr III.

Those turret bin clasps look familiar! Very nice work, did you find the little hoops on those clasps to be an absolute nightmare?!

Hi Tom, yep the little padlock loops were maddening.

I tried all sorts to get them looking right, and ended up using some fine wire instead of the PE parts. I then drilled the holes on the clasp through the turret as well. That way I could make the wire loops a bit longer, and push them into the holes and adjust them so that they had the right depth. I still have loads of padlocks left, so may add a couple at some time.

Thanks Fellas, good to hear that you like the work I have done.

tiger keep going with the PE, it is fiddly and frustrating at times, but the results really are worth it. I think the extra detail would add something to any Tiger model.

By the way, the clasps etc.. are functional when I make them, but once fitted to the tank I glue them either open or shut. It is nice to have them functioning, but they are so delicate that I don't think they would last long on an RC vehicle, especially an IR battler.
