Road Wheels

Post by mangaroca »

Hi,

Could anybody point out the differences between these two road wheel sets for Tamiya King Tiger?

The price difference is huge so I think the cheaper ones don't have ball bearings.. However, they are full metal with "faces" compared to the ETO Armor ones that still need the plastic bits screwed to them. Also, I'm not sure if they fit the standard axles or do they allow/require the improved, thicker axles..

Anybody?

I think its the bearings which increase the cost but not sure about the axles.

If I was to get either I'd get the one with bearings but neither set is really needed for the KT, the wheels run freely without bearings - the running gear on the Tamiya KT is fairly sturdy with metal tracks. The all metal set will be quite heavy strain on the gear boxes and cause hull flex and I'd argue that the plastic parts, because they are separate and of high detail anyway, look better than when they are cast.

I already upgraded the engines and gearboxes so all metal suspension and wheels is not going to be a problem.
