Here's my current tank squad. I don't think i really have room for any more. The king tiger is my favorite, not just because i have the most time and money invested in it. It seems to have taken on a unique character all its own. That may have been all the time invested in the mods, the multiple paint sessions (these were at least 4 times, the results so unique that i now consider the paint complete) even though it's still dead waiting for parts.
I learned a lot from the King, most important what NOT to do and what not to buy! These were expensive lessons, but i guess there really was no other way to learn. I have been posting and asking questions on this site since i got it and everyone has been unfailingly kind and helpful. But I guess there are certain things people cannot teach you by telling you, you have to learn yourself.
I have been enjoying the Tiger 1 as i wait to finish the KT. I plan to be more conservative with the mods. I will start by bracing the hull with some alumin strip, paint the tracks rust, probably add a cooling fan for the TK01 circuit board (that i had wrongly blamed for my KT's failure to run, it turned out to be the bloody transmitter all along!!!)

I have a zimmerit set on the way from W.D. so painting will wait. I found a darker sand yellow and this tiger will have a unique finish-since im airbrushing the base coat over grey primer its going to be different from the KT. I may simply use red primer, then airbrush sand and green over that. I read that this was common practice at the factory for KT's and tigers towards the end of the war anyway.
As a finishing touch for my KT i have the etched grill screens for my KT on the way from Australia. I found a good price and for once, the shipping cost from down under was reasonable.
I'm going to enjoy the tiger for a while before tearing into it. Did anyone besides me notice how touchy the transmitter is? I think the baterries must fit perfectly in the box or you lose signal (whether the transmitter light is on or not). Several times today i played with the tiger and i lost signal, i removed the battery cover on the trans and fiddled with the batteries as i watched the tank. I rolled them and pushed on them until the tank came back to life...there's got to be some kind of mod to fix that...
Oh yeah while i'm on the subject one thing i learned NEVER EVER slap the transmitter to get the batteries out! Transmitters are delicate things always pry the batteries out.
