I fired it up using my KT battery and tried driving using my OLD (KING TIGER) transmitter. They are the exact same type of transmitter so if the KT one were functioning properly, it should run the tiger no problem too no? Well. WOULD NOT RUN RIGHT USING MY KING TIGER TRANS! THEN i swapped to the transmitter that came with the tiger-ran perfectly....THE PROBLEM WITH MY KING TIGER, WAS THE TRANSMITTER ALL ALONG!!!!!
Meanwhile i have swapped everything in the KT over to the RX18 system and i don't regret it. However I have a higher opinion of the RX01 board now, (that this new tiger 1 comes with) and that i blamed for the KT malfunctions all along! Because i had no transmitter to compare it to...i assumed it was the board. Well that was a very expensive thing to assume (Makes an ASS out of U and ME).
Somebody sounds like a Happy Camper ...Good show Mark...lesson to be noted..."the second tank always sorts problems with the first" or.."try ...try again" or.."nothing like hands on experience "

Well Saxon I looked at the ridiculous amount of money I so rashly poured into modding my money pit king tiger... and waiting over a month for parts I wanted SOMETHING else to play with in the meantime. I really don't understand why having the king tiger temporarily dead bothers me since it makes no logical sense at all. Its not my car or even bicycle after all! And is not a bad static model at worst And i've used the idle time to make a lot of improvements to the KT like the RX18 upgradeetc. But the KT being down bothers me much less now i have the functioning tiger, go figure!
I stumbled across this deal after googling every day for over a month and just too good to resist. I've sent off to welsh dragon for his Zimmerit set which cost about $ 25 US shipped so no repainting will have to wait...I figure I will keep the tx01 unit inside and just add a fan somehow since i don't care about s and s and the KT will soon have that function available to add later anyway. Plus adding hull bracing, painting the tracks rusty, etc.
Should probably just send away for a spare transmitter right now... I'd guess more HL tanks have been junked in disgust by their owners over broken transmitters the owner didnt realize and had no way to know were bad, then anything else.
Meanwhile King tiger waits forlornly for parts as a static model.
I am the leader of long term builds, I stopped posting some time back for reasons of my own but the KT Issue, I had 5 in various stages for over a year. Even now my Jagdpanther which the build is on this forum has had a broken barrel for at least a year,Just ordered one from Dave.
My Tiger has sat so long the soda effect started cracking so I have a new upper hull coming from Dave. My 1/6th Tiger stopped two years ago being built while I worked with F.O.A.Tanks and during that bad choice I have two 1/6th Jagdpanthers completed to the bare hulls and all running gear waiting on details which are like building 2-dozen individual kits as each feature is a work in itself.
No we each build as our lives allow and our money permits. I really understand this. Some guys have disposable income and time more so than others.
Tanks generally get built ironically from bed, on a TV Tray. As in the last decade I have spent way to much time recovering from the next miracle surgery. I await the latest even now. So my point should be very clear, guys do what life allows as this is our Hobby. Done for pleasure, and to relax. No one gets that privilege full time, unless they really live a sheltered life. I do not.
I have just finished a long search for the ESC UNIT for the 1/6th Jagdpanther, Sabertooth was the choice but they have backordered their units for an unknown period of time. And the Jagdpanther has been a year from drafting the design,to laser cutting the hull, the machine work, purchasing all the metal, then the FOA parts had to be modified, cleaned, primed, and slowly built one piece at a time.
These are resin parts, slow, dusty work. sanding, filing, cutting, and correcting imperfections. Then the fun really started.
My two kt I have left as I sold some need minor detailing, the Torro being the one I wish to really invest time in, and have so far completely disassembled and painted every single piece,re-assembled and now have it almost completed. Need I say more. Yes one more thing, finding time to hang out with my friends on the forum so I may learn how to do all these things and improve my skills.
The KT Looks grand by the way, excellent start to what should one day be a completed fine build. No hurry,no worry.
cheers Blake
Urban dictionary-SAXONDOG-derogatory term for anglosaxon people
What you don't realize Mark..is you have the New Improved Heng Long Tiger... where most of the flaws that plagued the early production models have been corrected...there use to be a horrendous shovel molded into the hull in front of the turret... the turret was also not properly centered...so you did get a bargain.. I'm almost tempted to order one just for the upper hull
You will definitely have a good time with this.. modifying if you want to or just enjoying it as is ... So I understand your joy especially with the rather bad experience you had with your King Tiger
We have all been were you are at one time...with time your expertise will grow ...be excited dude... your adventure has truly begun
