Bare metal effects
A simple way of adding rubbed metal effects to your models is to use a lead pencil,..preferable one of them thick Joiners pencils,..all you need to do is rub the lead along the edges of the painted model to create a worn look....great if you want to show wear, ...on the surfaces that the crews boots wood land....

Re: Bare metal effects
Hi this is a good tip, I use a4, 5 or 6B pencil depending on the effect I am looking for. Looks just like dull bare metal

Re: Bare metal effects
Great and traditional technique. I still use it an awful lot. you can get the sheen you want by buffing it with your fingertip.

Re: Bare metal effects
Another handy area for this is in the barrel recoil (full battery) position of the barrel. There is always a swept section of any barrel that telescopes in & out of the mantlet shroud..........
