Trumpeter Su-100

Post by sassgrunt »

I had been wanting one of these to fit to a T-34 chassis, but the price of over $200 just made that unaffordable. I just found out that Squadron is having a sale on them for $159, and shipping is free since it's more than $150. Link is here: http://www.squadron.com/1-16-Trumpeter- ... r00915.htm

So how many did you order Mike :haha: ...Just like that other FoV hull you found on Ebay.. it's very tempting...thought about converting one of my Heng Longs at one point... but it really wouldn't fit in my collection...it's a great deal for sure at 159..I also saw they had the T38 at under 90...a super build now that the tracks and RC kit is available

I just ordered the one, Mike. I have an old Imperial Su-100 kit, and although I like the kit; I have never liked the undersized mantlet. Every photo of an Su-100 (or Su-85, for that matter), shows a mantlet that is MUCH larger than the Imperial kit. When Trumpeter brought this one out, it just looks so much better. But, I couldn't justify the normal $200 cost, PLUS another $40 or so in shipping; just to use it as an upper hull for an RC chassis. This sale, though, allows me to have yet another project not-to-finish. Ha.

I wonder is it would be a good candidate for the Taigen metal chassis?

I can understand where you are coming from Mike...it's complicated to find balance sometimes... I think the Taigen chassis would be a perfect platform... as usually those kits ...though super detailed have relatively thin light plastic ...that kit will make for a really nice build though... I'm kind of waiting for someone to come out with a Js 2 model kit... saw on guy on Ebay selling a few no name Kits.. which sounded a lot like Tamiyas ..there were three listed.. all three went for about 300...pretty ridiculous to me... as the seller had no feedbacks...and used three different IDs to list the tanks...I bid on one just so I could follow the result... I knew I would loose the auction but I was curious to see if the winner actually gets the model
Anyway.. it's the dark side of the hobby... Caviat emptor eh ;) ...at least Squadron is a decent company...so if they get that off shoot Js2 I'll probably make an attempt to get one then...though theres a good chance it will fly off their counters lol

Good luck with the Su ... I'm sure Trumpeter did a good job..they usually do ...and you have enough chassis lol....

Have a good one Mike
