Motor pinion puller

Post by Phil »

Just bought some new motors for my Sherman and T34, and neglected to buy a pinion puller. I have one for my slot cars but that is a bit small for the shaft to fit.

Rather than use the old pinions from the motors I was wondering if there are any pinions with grub screws in like my hell ones.

I don’t know the pitch also.

So is there a pinion puller you can recommend?

Or pinions with grub screws to fit the Multiplex Motor Permax 480/7.2V 2.3mm shaft?

Not going to use the socket vice and hammer method!

Hi Phil,

I searched for ages for alternative pinion gears but never found any suitable, even with the so called same pitch the noise from the gearboxes was terrible and ear piercing. In end I got a pinion puller and reused the old pinions.

Originally got one like this which broke on first use :-<

Then got one like this

Only problem was the pin was 3mm so I had to file down to 2.3mm. No biggie.

By the way I think it's 48 pitch for the gears.

I think if you buy the Waterson gears they all come with a set of pinion pullers........

Hey Phil
I have one of these... it's meant for airsoft... but the function is pretty good... removes and presses the pinion for installation
