Working 1mm wing nuts
I know we have been here before but trust me, after all I know a doctor, Take your SCHUMO BUTTERFLY/WING NUTS and carefully separate them from the sprue, using a ROLSON TAP and DIE set, chase the thread using a 1.0mm die then with a pin vise and a 0.8mm drill bit ( I use the bit in the DREMEL pack )drill your hole in the work you are using, then with a ROLSON 1.0mm tap make a thread in the work and lo and behold your SCHUMO BUTTERFLY/WING nut does what it should do, although not quite in the way wing nuts usually operate ie- both nut and shaft turn, but the end result looks very good. shaun

My good friend Shaun... Yes you are the Wizard of Wing Nuts ....why it was like yesterday..you had mention of these gems ...but alas... I have never been able to find them
But if I may... ask...for future reference ...wouldn't it be easier to leave the wing nut on the sprue as you tap it?..the larger "area" would provide for a better grip wouldn't it?
and two... where were you when I needed wing nuts for my Kv2 build
...........
I had to fabricate my own using solder

Re: Working 1mm wing nuts
Why hallo my good friend, I trust all is well with you and yours, we are glorying in the best time of the year in England, Spring, still cold at night but the days are getting warmer and you can almost hear the flowers popping out, having lived in the tropics I am only too well aware of the paucity of change with regards to the seasons, it is either wet or it is not, bit boring, anyway to business, the SCHUMO BUTTERFLY/WING nuts come 5 in a row and are attached at the base of a faux thread to the nickel silver sprue, so the only way to get a proper thread on the shaft means removing it from the sprue first, there is a thread but it is just impressed, so it needs chasing with a die and then it works, which leaves me asking why couldn't SCHUMO have done it? You take care ALPHA my fine fellow, oh by the way we don't have volcano's or tzunamis so I guess you do get some adventures. If you do want BUTTERFLY/WING nuts you will find them on the welsh dragon site. shaun
