I like the Tigers all dirty like this. I am wanting to go the same direction with the final weathering on my Tiger. What did you use for the mud on this particular one. Really nice job!!
have you thought of putting zimmerit on it ? also do you own an airbrush ? my rommel bin was some paperclips and some brass bits from my radiator grilles !
another cheap add-on the tiger is to add some ends to the trunions ( the frankenstein bolts on the turret !) wht to do is get a standard size paper punch, get a plastic yoghurt pot, punch from the widest part of the yoghurt pot top do 6 of them, join them together as 2 pieces and glue 2 on either bolts front, then take some scissors and cut the last one in half, get a piece of sprue from a kit, join them together and hey presto ! also what alpha says give the figures some decals. I'm not a huge fan of the pea-pattern camo. germans had many many different camo patterns compared to all the allies who never really gave a thought about land based camo (compared to air forces and navy who experimented a great deal ) and the pea-patern in 1/16 scale looks a little weird ! If you painted the figures yourself may i suggest that you re-do the tanker as he looks as if he's done with gloss/satin paint ! Finally if your figure is holding a weapon, get it held realistically. Imagine yourself holding an mg42 in that position ! You couldn't ! so maybe put an mp 40 or stg.
I hope this sounds like encouragement and not criticism !
ps if you want more detail i can send you some chain for the filters. I sent some to TomHugill (and i'm teaching my gran to suck eggs there).
pps still loving the swastika hanging over the rommel bin !
hi doc thanks for the tip using a hole punch to make trunion ends, i did that this sunday afternoon and added them to this tiger and my mid prod tiger too. yeah i did the tank commander in satin and other soldier is a forces of valor stock figure, there is better detail on them but the pics are poor but i hope to add better detail / figures in time. Iwill hopefully post better pics in futureof more improvements to them. About the air cleaaner chains where / how do they fit i havent seen them before, any pics on here showing them ?. thanks again for your helpful hints n tips.
why not get the guy with the mg42 carrying it slung over his shoulder leaving the other hand to carry an ammo box ? I use cable ties (the little black ones found around electrical equipment).
