Sherman stalling

Greetings one and all and a Merry Christmas. So down to business - new HL Sherman, top removed and turret removed to re- Spray into the colour of Sherman operated by elderly gent recipient. Worked out of the box albeit only a brief check. Took photos of wiring to ensure all went back correctly. Did final check, all function except that the tank moves a little, 'sound' becomes strained and tank switches off with just flashing LEDs. Have checked and all plugs appear correctly seated, battery charged and new batts in remote controller.

As this is new then logical answer is return to vendor, don't think he would be impressed to find it in the colours and markings of Royal Tank Corps vehicle from Palestine 1946 though!! Help requested from one of you experts please.

Worst thing you could have done... take it apart first.... I always test the tank upon arrival before doing anything... the vendor has no obligation to take yours back for that reason...anyway... it sounds like your battery... you may not have gotten a good charge on it...check the pins in the connecters ..sometimes one is ajar and not making good contact do the same with the connecter on the tank

Good Luck... and remember... once you take a new tank apart..it voids any implied warranty the seller may have given you

That certainly sounds 'power' related as you would get those symptoms from a weak or nearly discharged battery. A little more information about the battery size 1700mah, etc. and the charger used would help us to help you.

Hey there Painless... I have to agree... I have a 2000 mah that had a faulty connector... found one of the locking tabs on the pin was bent in the wrong direction...so when you plugged it into anything .. the pin would move backwards and not make a good connection...I have to say... I wondered why it didn't get warm during the charge process...thought it was due to the higher amp... but nope it was the connecter ... easy fix ... since the pin moved backwards already I pulled it out and re bent the pin to the proper position... put it back in the connecter pushed it in with a jeweler's screwdriver... and she was good to go... put a full charge in it and it works fine

Hope you are having some relaxing time.. and perhaps collected a few more of the bits for your Sherman

Thanks for the guidance everyone. Ok when I opened this Sherman plus mine plus the Tiger plus the M41 they functioned satis. The Sherman in question functioned satis through its brief test, which was longer than it is currently managing. The tank is using the original HL battery and was charged for 4 hrs 15 mins with the supplied charger as recommended somewhere on this forum. I will attend to your suggestions nontheless. I will try that battery in my sherman which is working perfectly and therefor my battery in the painted one. I also have an aftermarket Nimh batt charged with a proper Nimh charger - Ripmax delta peak, oh I really do not want to know that this is the worst, most useless thing I could have wasted my money on, thanks .
As an aside, I have converted a DeWalt NiCd drill battery charger to charge HL etc batteries. Being 'industrial' this charger has some clever circuitry to ensure best performance is achieved by balancing the cells etc. you advanced R/C types will better understand that I should imagine.

I am new to the hobby and made the same mistake with my new Sherman. It took several attempts to get it working after taking a look inside but found a bad turret connection and a bad sound volume pot. the volume had to be turned up full to prevent stalling and flashing lights.
