Weird Panther

Post by jeff1101 »

A post in the same vein as mcevoyi's unusual jagdpanther zimmerit pattern - http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... =1&t=11983

I was lurking in the axis history forums looking for reference photos for my Panther customization when I saw this post of a very unusual panther. (credit to axishistory forum)

It looks like a regular late model Panther G with flame damper exhaust. What I find unusual is that aside from the flame dampers, it has the dual cooling exhaust stacks/pipes found in the Panther A. :O

I guess the Germans were not particular about attaching earlier/later upgrade parts on individual tanks??

Hey Guys,

This is a great pic! :D

I am sure you have seen this but for others who may not have this link takes you to the production parts/changes spreadsheet that is really great for looking at what changes occured when on the Panthers.

You can see there is quite a bit of cross over between types and equipment. For example just to be different I am planing on building 2 early G's with zim and with earlier exhaust. The picture you have here is interesting because as you say earlier exhaust system but with the flame eliminators which were not put on until Oct. of 44. Also the self cleaning idler wheel also confirms this is a vehicle made at the earliest Oct. I agree must have been extra parts put to use!

Probably why it broke down :haha: the exhaust was too complex ;) ...just kidding... cool picture though... just another version for some modeller to imitate :D
