1:16 Tank crews

As we are all too well aware the dearth of British tankers is even more critical in 1:16th than it is in 1:35. Perhaps, however, there is a way forward - albeit an expensive way forward. Those of you living in York have the first opportunity to try the experiment: ASDA is offering 3D printing of figures (ie you) to any scale, so pop along in your 8th Army desert tanker gear etc etc.

Early days but this does open up a future for home brew models and, as with most technology, the prices will fall. Whether this will ever be within the reach of a home based system is to be seen, but one day ......

It is not so much the 3d printer but the initial data gathering equipment that I have wondered about. With the costs of 3D printers falling the concept of producing the 1:16, 1:35 or even 20mm braille scale figures has potential. The method of obtaining the data that is then converted to the 3D software becomes the greater challenge. That said, we then have to audition the 12" to 1ft actors, complete with their uniforms to pose for that data gathering system. I dare say that whatever system ASDA are using will, one day, become available to us.

does anyone know ...How much is the ASDA option ?.......and since it did not say in the video..is the figure painted or actually made in colour as well ?
