As a kid, I was always interested in tanks. My father, a WWII Combat vet who fought in Europe, had many war books for me to read and would tell combat stories. A friend of mine collected armored vehicles of all types which further heightened my interest. Although I did serve in the US Army in Vietnam, I wasn’t near any tanks.
My dad passed away three years ago and my friend had to get rid of his tank collection after 9/11 at the request of the FBI. So, tanks have been out of sight out of mind.
A month ago I was selling my RC aircraft at the Horizon Dome RC flyin in Columbus, Oh and talked to a fellow vendor who was selling Taigen tanks. It was then that I decided to act before I kicked the bucket.
I understand from reading comments on various tank forums that the Taigen tanks are a middle of the road in the 1/16 tank line up. They come with most of the basic functions in an enhanced package that is ready to roll. So, I am now a Taigen tank dealer.
As such, I would ask your advice on setting up a Tank battle weekend at the Champaign Aviation Museum in Urbana, Ohio. What dates in February or March would be best? Who should I contact for rules, advice, and to advertise?

Hallo Rick, Welcome to the forum, the last thing I want to do is move you away from this site, every member is valued but if you go to www.rcuniverse.com you will find the answers to your questions more readily answered, it is a multidisciplined site with a specialised Tank Forum and it is US based which can only be a good thing, we do have members of the Forum from many States of the Union as we do from Malaysia, Australia most of Europe oh did I mention HAWAII ? We have no favourites just lots of good friends all over the world but this is for all it's failings primarily UK based, and anybody reading this from beyond the shores of the UK please do come and join us we would like your company and your input. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone

Rick, Shaun has a good suggestion certainly. But do not forget about a few things we have here that have taken time to build. Primarily the Battlefield builds section,or Clubs established by members here.
I would also suggest Karen and Natasha, and their American, yet members here. The AAF Museum team who host a very nice 1/16 scale event every year with an indoor battleground. http://www.aaftankmuseum.com/
Certainly RCU has fine resources, I am just suggesting you utilize ours as well. I will be happy to provide you with several US CLUB links, contacts and peoples names to assist you in your activities.
One thing I do have is a lot of friends in the Hobby, even though I am a club of one here in Memphis.Tn.
Just PM Me for my e-mail so I may share the information.
All the best,Good luck.
Blake

Re: A new 2014 Tank Battle weekend in Urbana, Ohio
In the month of so since I have been looking at RC tank forums and tank info, I do believe that this forum along with rcuniverse has the most to offer even though I love rcgroups for other things. Someday, I would hope to see a battle at the AAF Museum. My hope is to encourage younger generations to learn and understand the history of the older generations by participation in rc events if by air or on the ground.
Tanks can tell the story of past wars, the courage and sacrifices of men/women as well as restoring a B-17 or flying a B-25 which is currently taking place at the museum. If any of you would visit the United States Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, Urbana is located a short 50 minute drive to the northeast. We would probably also have a tank museum here if it wasn’t for 9/11 and our governments paranoia.
So, I appreciate the suggestions and am eager to start the setup for some tank action in 2014. And, maybe next year I will light up a tank for Christmas.
