Hi all
Total newbie to rc tanks but want to use one for a dual purpose. Apart from the usual stuff I'd like to use one to photograph wildlife by mounting a Gopro camera on top! I want to use it to get closer than I could by foot and weirdly, testing with an rc car, they don't seem to get too spooked. So, 1/16 or 1/24, don't want to spend too much just yet, and it needs to be reasonably capable on wet grass. And as long a battery life as possible. The camera I'm mounting on top is about the same size as 2 small matchboxes. Any suggestions of brand and supplier, very gratefully received! Oh - also not a problem if it doesn't have sound or smoke! So I guess in summary, a capable beginners' tank that will cope with reasonably rough terrain.
Many thanks
Matt

Re: Tank for GoPro camera
Good Afternoon,
Firstly, welcome to the Forum. You will find the answers to your questions here, fielded by a great bunch of guys who know the Hobby inside-out. Now, for your questions, You need something with good wet grass performance and long battery life? Keep the weight somewhat stock and any RC Tank with broad tracks will perform well on grass. 'Wet' will mean that you will need to do a little waterproofing on the lower hull just to be safe. Long battery life means a LiPo battery and even then you may want to go with two in sequence which takes you back to the stock weight of the tank. There was a thread here not long ago where a member had tricked out a Heng Long KV-1 tank with video and was using it for drone duty around his outlying property and having good success with it.
*rummages* Have at look at that one and see if you think that would fill the bill. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=11411

Thanks Painlesswolf!
Some good stuff there. Would anybody know if the Heng Long Pro versions are worth the money? The ones with metal tracks, gearbox etc. Is there a better alternative at the price point £140 ish?
Thanks

I'm partial to HENG LONGS... just because of the value they provide... but for a little more ... the Taigens have a few more upgrades...on their top end modelMatt185 wrote:Thanks Painlesswolf!
