Torro T34 conversion

Post by Tankbear »

I picked up this T34 a few months back from WDM as having faulty electronics so finally got round to doing something with it.

Plan is to convert to a SU100 but for was to convert the electronics to the IBU2.

Now last time I converted the electronics in my other T34 the wiring was a lot of wires soldered together. This time I planned to do a tidy job removing the plugs and fitted the correct sized plugs etc.

So here's some pictures

and here's a quick video of it working.

Ian,

Looks great. Does IBU2 comes with any sound file or you have to upload it ? Also, does it support recoil of any kind ?

Hi Michael,

TheIBU2 comes supplied with a micro SD card which has most of the tanks sound sets on (I think there is only T55 missing from all the tanks available in 1/16 scale kit) or you can create your own sounds to use. And yes offers full recoil support with usual HL motor controls, tamiya recoil via tamiya socket and servo recoil which can be user defined how fast back and return etc.

Here is the full specification

IBU2 Specification

- Control via proportional transmitter (4 channels required)
- Plug and play for Heng Long tanks (including the newer 2.4ghz versions)
- Plug and play for Taigen tanks
- Fully Tamiya compatible IR system (IR code, tank classes, tank slowdown)
- Supplied apple flasher leds board compatible with HL and Taigen receivers
- Compatibility with IBU first series repair function to simulate a repair tank (bergepanzer) with IR range limitation via jumper
- Proportional track control (including spinning), with transmitter-switchable momentum linked to tank class
- 15A max per track channel (software limit set at 10A), with current monitoring and limitation (warning flashes on apple led, if selected)
- Track power is enough to drive a HL tank even in grass or on slopes with stock gearboxes
- Mosfet temperature monitoring and limitation (max 70°C- warning flashes on apple led, if selected)
- Both direction elevation control from transmitter.
- Headlights and tail lights can be switched on and off by transmitter.
- Working brake light (when tail lights turned on)
- All controls (turret, gun, lights, etc.) are available even with engine stopped
- Support for tamiya-style and servo recoil
- Proportional control of smoke generator (full power during engine startup, then proportional to engine revs)
- Smoke generator can be switched on/off via remote
- 2 channels sound with 3W/4 Ohm on-board amplifier
1 Channel dedicated to engine sounds
1 Channel dedicated to all other effects, with priority table to play them
-Customizable sounds on (supplied) microSD card (22050 Hz, 8 bit, mono wave files)
Engine cold start
Engine warm start
Engine idle
Engine rev steps
Engine stop
5x Random track chain squeaks
Turret rotation
Barrel elevation
Gun shoot
MG shoot
Hit
Destroyed
Rebirth 15 secs after destroyed
Repair
- Li-Po battery (7.4v 2cell only) support with voltage detection and automatic tank shutoff at low battery voltage
- extended apple led signaling selectable: end of reload, board bootstrap, warnings (lipo low voltage, motor overcurrent, overheating)
- Dip switches to set tank function, class, etc.
- Easy setup with receiver: set dip switch on, move sticks to all directions, set dip switch off, done!
- Super light weight class. One hit and destroyed!
- Direct plug and play for HL, Taigen and Tamiya IR systems
- Optional audio upgrade offering two separate speaker outputs and separately volume controlled.
