Old ...Maybe New ..Mini Sanding blocks

Post by ALPHA »

Hello Everyone.... One thing I noticed here... there is a lot of cosmetic embellishment of the exterior of tanks..
One thing I have found useful is the use of EMERY BOARDS ...
Image

they make great little sanding tools for tight areas and broad sanding .... I prefer revlon... they have a thin hardened backing and two different grits fine and course
I'm sure many of you know of this tool.... but some may not....
I think they are a little more versatile than modelling files... as the files teeth don't go all the way to the end

The emery boards can be trimmed with some durable shears.to any shape needed... so can go deep into triangulated areas .. usually not accessible to files
and for the beginner .. a cheap alternative to buying a set of files

HAVE FUN MODELLING

:haha: :haha: Then maybe I shouldn't mention that some feminine hygiene products make great sandbags....found that trick when I didn't know any better... thought what the heck are these things.... started cutting them up ..they held the shape!! :O ... then looking like little pillows... soaked them in paint... and stacked them on some of my tanks... and low and behold ... sandbags :haha: :haha: :haha:

But for the protection of the sanctity of this "Mans" forum I will not mention the brand :silent:

By the way Dietrich.... Revlon is the best brand... other brands wear out faster... and aren't as stiff....so if you need to get into those really tight spots and cut the tip to a point.... they will do the job :shh:

Just some examples of how the emery boards can be shaped to fit an application

using a scissors you can cut the boards to suit just about any need

And when you go to by them.. if the girl in the cosmetic department gives you a funny look... just tell her Men have the right to pamper themselves too :haha:
